Fashion Designer Vivienne Westwood Slams Michelle Obama’s Style

Another day, another opinion about Michelle Obama’s wardrobe. Since Michelle stepped onto the forefront of the political scene, she’s been a target of immense scrutiny, and things would only get worse once she became the First Lady. Everything Michelle does goes under a microscope and has become a target of criticism, but she’s already made it clear that she’s used to it and it doesn’t really faze her anymore. We’re glad the criticism isn’t getting Michelle Obama down any, especially since popular Fashion Designer Vivienne Westwood just slammed her style in a recent interview with the New York Times.

When asked about what she thought about Michelle Obama’s style, Vivienne didn’t have a lot of nice things to say. She says:

“Don’t talk about her. It’s dreadful what she wears. I don’t want to talk about it. Really, I can’t. She’s a very nice looking lady, but it’s a nonstarter regarding clothes that suit her. Jackie Kennedy was a different matter altogether. It just has to suit her and be something that makes a human being more glamorous. That’s what fashion is there for. It’s there to help, not just to make you look more conservative.”

Interestingly enough, Vivienne has also made snarky remarks about Duchess Kate Middleton who she allegedly feels doesn’t wear enough of her clothes. So perhaps these comments about Michelle stem from a pretty similar situation in which the fashion designer doesn’t feel like she’s in Michelle’s closet enough. Regardless, Westwood has managed to cause controversy with her remarks.
