When it comes to Black Hollywood and the legacy of black comedians, you can’t leave out the Wayans clan. The comedic family is responsible for the creation of one of the funniest sketch comedy shows to ever hit television to ever hit a network, In Living Color, not to mention that the show is also legendary considering that it launched the successful careers of numerous comedians like Jim Carey, Jamie Foxx, and David Alan Grier. Jennifer Lopez even got her big shot to stardom as one of the members of the show’s dance group The Fly Girls. Even though the series ended in 1994, the Wayans family has stayed busy acting in numerous films, and also screenwriting, producing and directing very successful comedies for the big screen.

Now that Keenen, Damon, Shawn, Marlon, Kim and the rest of the Wayans siblings are parents, aunties, and uncles these days; it’s been made pretty clear that the second generation of Wayans isn’t without talent.

The second generation of Wayans are taking a stab at movies and they even have their own show Second Generation Wayans on BET.

The very talented family recently sat down with Oprah on Oprah’s Next Chapter, and talked about what it’s like to have a big family full of comedians. They also talked about how they plan to keep the success going with the second generation, and even how they became a force to be reckoned with in Hollywood.

Here’s a sneak peek of the family’s sit down with Oprah:

  1. I’m glad to see a black family doing it big and establishing something for the next generation. We need a lot more of that. Kudos to them.

  2. I’m just glad to see their kids want to continue the legacy. They could be lazy like most rich kids but they actually want to work. That’s dope.
