Kanye West might have a baby on the way with his current girlfriend Kim Kardashian, and even have a current beef on his hands as the internet is still talking about that interesting new track Ray. J. dropped entitled “I Hit It First,” which most are quite sure is about Kim Kardashian (although Ray J. denies that it is), but it now appears that the rapper and producer now has a new legal battle on his hands to worry about. According to reports, Kanye was just hit with a copyright infringement lawsuit over his hit song “Gold Digger,” and in the suit it is alleged that Kanye used a unauthorized sample.

Here’s the report according to AllHipHop:

Chicago rapper Kanye West and a number of record labels are the subject of a new copyright/RICO lawsuit, over the continued usage of a 1974 sample.

The rap star is being sued by Trena Steward and Lorenzo Pryor, who are the owners of the copyright for the song “Bumpin’ Bus Stop.”

The song was originally recorded by the siblings’ father, David Pryor of the music group Thunder & Lightning.

David Pryor died from various health conditions, in May 2006.
The brother and sister are suing for millions of dollars in damages, claiming Kanye illegally used a portion of the tune in his hit single “Gold Digger.”

The record labels targeted in the lawsuit include Bad Boy Records, Roc-a-Fella Records, The Island Def Jam Music Group, Bomb Hip-Hop Records, Stones Throw Records, Caroline Distribution, Autumn Games and Activision.

  1. I guess he thought no one would figure it out he was using the samples? LOL. It never works out that way. Just do what’s right in the first place and save yourself the time later.

  2. I hope they get what they deserve…millions….take it all siblings! So tired of ugly a-s West and his lame beard Kardashian. What a loser!
