Rapper Rick Ross is under fire for his controversial lyrics on Rocko’s song “U.O.E.N.O.” In the verse, Rick Ross raps about putting molly in an unsuspecting woman’s drink and then having his way with her later when he takes her home. The lyrics of course have led to a backlash, and the rapper is not only the target of an online petition, but a women’s activist group is also protesting against Reebok for partnering up with the rapper. Since Rick Ross’ endorsement deal is in trouble and people have continued to make their issues with the lyrics clear to the rapper, he decided to take to his Twitter account and apologize. However, plenty of people aren’t satisfied with his apology. Regardless, some other rappers have decided to stand behind Ross and defend his right to free speech. Rick Ross may have the right to say what he wants in his music, but rapper Rosco has confirmed that he is planning to replace Rick Ross’ verse on the controversial track.
In a recent interview with Hot 97, Rocko says:
“The record instantly became a smash over the All-Star Weekend and stuff like that. It just became a smash in the streets. So with me, I feel like I’m a street artist so I feel like the record with Ross that will always be the original record. But because of the type of attraction the record has as far as like radio and all over the country and things of that nature it puts me in a position to where I have to change it.
“In life you have to put everything on the scale. You know what I’m saying? If it’s not weighing up then you just have to do what you have to do. With all respect to the homie Ross…It’s crazy because it’s a Catch 22. Cause it’s like I don’t want to take him off…It doesn’t matter who I put on the song that’s gonna always be the original version of it. It’s not like I can do another verse and be like, ‘Okay, this the original right here.”
Oh wow. Rocko says Rick Ross isn’t about to mess up his paper. LOL!
LOL basically
Good. In the real world, people are held responsible for their actions. So rappers should be too.
Reebok is next.
Money is the only language most of these rappers know!
Smart move.
Isn’t this Monica’s baby daddy? Rick Ross needs to fire his publicist ASAP. There’s no excuse for why this hasn’t been handled properly by now.
Well Rocko had to do what he had to do. If he kept the verse on there, then it would look like he condones what was said. Can’t be mad at that.
Changing that verse is a good move and simple.
