Jay-Z and Kanye got a hit album out of their Watch the Throne collaboration. The good friends and successful rappers even got one of their biggest hits from the classic studio album thanks to “N*ggas in Paris.” However, the song was deemed a very controversial one because although it became widely popular, the song title’s use of the “N” word made some people uncomfortable. In fact, it caused a lot of debate in society and had many questioning if it is about time for rappers to find a better word to refer to one another than a word that is associated to this country’s long history of racism. Notably, legendary rap group Public Enemy’s front man Chuck D has already been very vocal in the past with his gripes with the song. He told The Times last year:
“Hip hop celebrates those who wanna make a killing instead of a living. I like those guys, but they make me laugh sometimes because I don’t get who they’re here for, other than themselves.”
Well, it looks like Chuck D’s opinion on the song hasn’t changed any, as he recently took to his Twitter account to slam Kanye and Jay-Z because he says they are part of the reason one of his white fans referred to him as a n*gga while he was in Paris (read the tweets from the bottom to the top):
Chuck D also told his followers on Twitter that he feels the record label execs share most of the blame because he feels they wouldn’t allow any rapper to use derogatory names for Jews in their music. Chuck D’s views sound similar to the same ones Scarface expressed recently in which he said Hip Hop is now a conspiracy against blacks.
He makes a very good point. Unfortunately, rappers will continue to cling on to that word for dear life.
Pretty much.
I understand what’s he is saying but isn’t he like 2 years late.
There’s a lot of words I’m tired of hearing in Hip Hop. From all he b-tches and hoes in every other verse, to the many shots taken at our race…it’s too much.
Sad to say but he’s wasting his breath. That word will never go away!
Can’t fault Jay or ‘Ye for something that’s been going on way before they even picked up a mic. It kills me how these older black folk love to pretend like n-gga just became an everyday word for blacks amongst each other 10 years ago…
THANK YOU!
#TRUTH
What garbage is that………..so if every generation of your family were mass murders means you need to be one too. Hell yes I blame them for perpetuating stupidity.
I guess.
So I guess he’s just going to ignore that his group member Flava Flav is still cooning for a paycheck. Oh…
Get over it…..won’t be the last time……u think!
