If it’s one thing we’ve come to love about First Lady Michelle Obama, it’s the fact that she’s not afraid to be a strong woman despite how some in the Republican Party may feel about it. But as always, these displays of strength are usually misconstrued for proof that Michelle Obama is just another “angry black woman.” Although we feel that’s complete crap, her critics were foaming at the mouth and bursting with joy the day she put a heckler in her lace for interrupting a recent speech she made at a Democratic fundraiser. The situation has clearly been blown out of proportion, but the White House says it’s standing by Michelle’s handling of the situation. Regardless, that didn’t stop Conservative talking head Glenn Beck from being overdramatic and labeling the First Lady as a “monster” for standing up to the heckler who interrupted her speech in a pretty classy way. On his show, Beck says:

“She snaps. She walks away from the microphone, pretty much to confront the person, you know just like, ‘bring it on.’ And she says, you can barely hear her, you either talk and I leave, or I talk.

“She just went right back into the speech. So this woman’s a monster. She is Lady Macbeth. She is a frightening woman.”

This isn’t uncommon for Glenn Beck. He’s known for his outrageously conservative views(he wouldn’t get ratings without the antics), but it’s pretty interesting how a black woman can’t demonstrate a little authority without some people using the tired “angry and scary black woman” schtick. Just saying.

  1. The heckler was rude to interrupt Michelle Obama. She handled her in a boss way and stayed classy. I’m proud she’s MY First Lady.
