Kevin Durant officially signs with Roc Nation Sports. Jay-Z’s Roc Nation Sports agency has only been around for a short period of time and already the company has managed to land major deals with top athletes in the sports arena. NY Yankees second baseman Robinson Cano was the first to join forces with Roc Nation Sports. NFL star Victor Cruz and WNBA sensation Skylar Diggins came aboard shortly after. Despite all the chatter from the critics who feel Jay-Z is over stepping his boundaries and knows nothing about the business side of the sports industry, Jay-Z hasn’t let any of the negativity surrounding his new business venture get to him at all as the mogul continues to eye other pro athletes for RNS. With Jay recently becoming a licensed NBA agent, it would only be right for him to snag a deal with one of the best players in the league, Kevin Durant.
The Oklahoma City Thunder star reportedly ditched his agent and was said to be looking to join forces with Jay-Z. And now it’s a done deal as Kevin Durant is officially apart of the Roc Nation Sports family now. The NBA star took to his Instagram account and revealed the news of the deal he just signed with Jay-Z’s company by posting a photo of him and Jay signing off on the paperwork.
KD added the following caption with the photo:
#NewRules #RocNation
And he added in some quotes from him and Jay-Z on the deal too.
Kevin Durant says:
“Grateful for this opportunity with Roc Nation Sports. It’s go time.”
Jay-Z says:
“He has a 90.5 free throw shooting rate, the youngest player in NBA history to join the 50-40-90 club. A giving individual and a legend in the making. What more can I say?”
This new deal makes Kevin Durant the first NBA player to sign with Roc Nation Sports.
Jay-Z is playing no games right now.
I love it.
And another one…
Way to go KD this a good look now only if he drop ol girl and get with me he will definitely be winning lol.
*blink blink* 😀
What’s up with this new rules stuff?
Yes! I’m so happy for Durant. He really wanted this. He really looks up to Jay.
Jay is not playing. LOL.
Yay! I love them both!
It’s like a movement. All the black athletes want to sign to Roc Nation.
Can you imagine how powerful that would/could be? When you have a collective, a bloc, your power is almost exponential in comparison to acting alone. The question is, what would be done with said newly acquired power? Is Jay-Z the master of his fate or a pawn in a larger game?
