Newly formed R&B group TGT is now the target of a bit of controversy considering their most recent television performance was a disastrous one. As we reported recently, Tyrese, Ginuwine and Tank performed a couple of their new songs on “The Couch” the other day, but most people walked away thinking group member Ginuwine was high during the entire performance. Considering the singer continued to blink constantly, twitched and seemed to have trouble hitting his notes; many took to the Youtube comment sections to accuse him of “popping a molly.”

Tyrese was visibly angry with Ginuwine’s questionable performance, and a few times during the performance he shot his group member some rather angry stares. However, Ginuwine attempted to make light out of the accusations on his Twitter account and claimed he wasn’t on Molly but seriously needed some eye drops.

Now the R&B singer is claiming the reason his performance was so awkward was actually because he drank an energy drink just moments before the morning set. He tells Worldstar Hip Hop:

“Aye, man. It was six o’clock in the morning and I popped something but it wasn’t no d*mn molly! I popped a d*mn 5-hour Energy drink and I didn’t think it would do that to me.”

Tyrese admits he was pretty mad with Ginuwine and had a few words for the group’s critics:

“I was mad because I had my sh*t together.

“To all the blogs and websites, I’m a grown a*s man. I wish a mother*cker would act as if we aren’t talented. We been in this game for too many years. We helped y’all create y’all babies. You better fix your face trying to question me. [laughs]”

  1. There’s really nothing he can say to convince people he wasn’t high. Energy drinks don’t do that. They will have you hyper…not high.

    1. I’ve seen energy drinks have different effects on different people. They can definitely make you jittery or lethargic even. It all depends on the person.

        1. Same here. I don’t know what ‘Pony Man’ did or didn’t do but I stopped drinking 5 Hour Energy because when it wore off it left me feeling listless and lethargic.

  2. BS. But hey, if Tyrese and Tank want to keep singing with Ginuwine and they know he has some issues, that’s their problem.

  3. It’s honestly unfortunate they are having so many issues so soon. R&B could use these three together…oh well.

  4. The performance was bad even without Ginuwine acting crazy. I don’t know if they need to practice more or what, but all three of them were a hot mess.

  5. I just don’t believe them. Tyrese went off on Twitter like it was something going on way worse than an energy drink. Hopefully all three of them get it together.

  6. Tyrese gets on my nerves….he’s too cocky at least Ginuwine had a reason to be a mess(either a molly or energy drink) Whst’s your excuse Tyrese???

  7. Energy drinks has a different reaction for everyone, but I don’t buy his excuse. Hopefully TGT will get it together.

  8. He would be better off if he’d quit trying to explain and just key people speculate. His attempts at damage control are so ineffective.
