Jay Z is without a doubt one of the most successful people in Hip Hop and he’s managed to make his rap career last in a music industry that doesn’t grant longevity to artists often. Not only has he been able to go platinum despite a lukewarm industry, but he’s also established himself as a successful business man. Jay Z just launched his own sports agency Roc Nation Sports several months ago, and he’s already signed several of the top athletes in basketball, baseball. and even football. His artist management company Roc Nation is still going strong considering he still has one of the biggest pop stars of today, Rihanna on his watch. So it’s clear things have been going quite well for Jay Z outside of music. But with success, always comes criticism. And lately, Jay Z has been getting quite a lot of it.

When Harry Belafonte isn’t ripping into Jay Z for not doing what he feels is enough for the black community, Jay Z is getting slammed by other music artists. Jay Z’s annual Made in America festival went down recently and although things appeared to go on with a hitch, one of the artists who performed at the event didn’t have nice words for Mr. Carter. In fact, rock band Queen Of The Stone Age ripped the rapper and claimed they felt some of the things he had his security do to the artists was out of line. In fact, the band’s frontman Josh Homme tells CBC Radio 2 that they almost pulled out of the performance because they were so furious with Jay Z’s hired security:

“That guy’s a kook, you know. He has his security frisking the bands on the way in…I just told (the security guard) ‘If you open up my bag, then we’re not playing, so I guess it’s up to you now to decide whether I’m playing or not’… You shouldn’t frisk my guys.”

Homme also wasn’t happy that his band was asked to pose for a photo holding Jay Z’s brand of Champagne, Ace of Spades:

“I was like, ‘That’s not a gift – that’s a marketing tool.’ I destroyed it, because I thought it was rude overall.”

  1. This sounds very petty. So Jay Z can’t have artists checked out for weapons? I could have sworn that was standard procedure. And then he’s mad he wanted him to pose with his brand of champagne. LOL, Jay Z is a business man. Why wouldn’t he push to promote his own thing? Smh.

  2. Some of you take stanning to a whole different level. The guy is right. Jay was rude and should have at least told them they would be frisked by security. It’s common courtesy to give people a head’s up. And I don’t see the big deal about the champagne thing. That’s what businesses do.

    1. So when your fave physically hits people that’s not rude? Get your stanning in check before you come at anyone else’s please.

  3. Dude should have kept his mouth shut. His band will never get invited back because of his lack of professionalism. You don’t go blabbing to the radio when you have an issue.

  4. I wonder if he knows how much it cost to buy insurance for this shyt. Hip hop artist go through this everyday why he think he’s any different. 44% of the mass shooting in america are committed by whites.

  5. As if that man’s complaining is going to do anything. I’m sure they are not the first band to get searched when performing with Jay Z, they’re probably just one of the first to whine about it
