Lamar Odom’s last several weeks in the headlines have been very controversial, with many media outlets claiming the professional athlete is struggling with substance abuse. It’s even been reported that Lamar’s alleged addiction is causing a strain on his marriage and although Lamar originally denied having a drug problem, he seemingly confirmed the reports when he slammed his father for blaming the Kardashians for his alleged issues with drugs. As we reported recently, Lamar’s father Joe Odom made it clear he was not happy with the Kardashians, and he told Heat Magazine that he believes the family is to blame for his son’s downfall. Joe even said he feels Lamar should divorce Khloe and attempt to get his life together as a single man.
TMZ recently caught up with Joe and he decided he needed to clarify his comments. Joe said he made the comments because he was upset at the time about the comments made about him on the Wendy Williams Show. Apparently, one of Wendy’s guests Diane Madison made a joke out of the situation and referred to Joe as heroin addict, a gesture Joe didn’t appreciate considering he says he hasn’t done drugs in thirty years. Joe says:
“I’m not really trying to talk about them. I got upset about what Diane Madison said about me on the Wendy Williams show…that I was a heroin addict and that he [Lamar] was abusing crack. And people started laughing about that situation.
“I’ve been clean thirty years. I’m in a program. I’m in a program out here. And this program that I’m in, they have helped me to the utmost to stay straight, to stay drug free.”
Joe then goes on to say he doesn’t think Lamar is on drugs when asked if he’s talked to Lamar about going to rehab, he says he hasn’t:
“No I haven’t because I really don’t believe the things that they’re saying about him. To me he’s clean. He does the right thing, he works out, he’s about basketball, he’s about his job and everything. When I hear people talking about him like that, I get frustrated and upset.
“Every time I turn around I’m hearing I’m a heroin addict and I’m not even abusing drugs.
“I apologize for the things I had said previously because I was frustrated about what they said on the Wendy Williams show. The family is a wonderful family, but every time I turn around, I’m being called a heroin addict.”
WTF is he giving interviews? He doesn’t even talk to Lamar.
Who are the Kardashians? God? He doesn’t have to apologize for a damn thing. He has a right to his opinion about them. They shouldn’t be famous anyway.
He just needs to be quiet from now on. LOL.
Exactly because he is acting more like a drug addict than his son.
The Wendy Williams Show strikes again. Smh.
It’s kind of had to know if your son is on drugs or not if you don’t talk to them genius.
I hope this is his last interview. He’s acting like an opportunist.
I guess Joe is just as confused as the rest of us. The story changes every hour. One second Lamar is so drugged out they thought he overdosed, the other he’s on prescription pills, the next the marriage is over and now he loves the Kardashians and they are his only family and he can put a well thought out statement together on twitter. The Kardashians need to find one lie and stick to it.
The Kardashians are milking this whole situation for dear life.
So I guess the next time this family is about to lose their 15 minutes, Kanye is the idiot they will throw under the bus. They’ll probably say he abuses Kim. That sounds like a spin Kris Jenner will try…
I guess Kris Jenner made some phone calls. Evil heffa.
Smh. Don’t backtrack now. You meant everything you said.
I think I understand what he’s trying to say. He’s saying basically that he believes the Kardashians are the ones putting out all these stories. And because of that he’s angry. And he’s right. They are putting out all these stories. Kim and her team were exposed YEARS ago with their dirty press tactics. He’s only apologizing because he knows the K’s will come for him and he may think Lamar really tweeted that BS (and we know he didn’t).
Everyone’s always pointing fingers. Maybe he ought to look inside himself and try to figure out his part in all of it.
