Janelle Monae is gaining lots of buzz and vastly becoming an artist people get excited to watch do her thing on the stage. Although her recent album “The Electric Lady” didn’t quite do what most expected in album sales, she’s still making quite the name for herself in the music business. But Saturday was a big moment for the up coming singer’s career.
Last night the artist made her official debut on “Saturday Night Live.” She performed live and like always, she gave quite the show as the audience looked on and seemed to enjoy Janelle’s on stage energy.
She performed “Electric Lady” and “Dance Apocalyptic” in her signature black and white, suspenders, and boots. Check out her performances below:
In related news, Janelle Monae also had yet another big moment in her career. The singer was named Billboard’s 2013 Rising Star. On the prestigious honor, Janelle says:
“Being recognized for your hard work and passion is always humbling and encouraging. I feel honored Billboard has taken note of my journey in the music industry thus far. I hope by receiving this award I’m encouraging aspiring acts to stay true to their own artistic visions and never give up.”
Congrats to Janelle on her Billboard accomplishment.
