Up and coming R&B singer Jhene Aiko is getting lots of buzz for her “Sail Out” and “Soul Out” albums, so it’s no surprise she was invited to perform at this year’s Hot 97 Summer Jam.
However, like other acts who came out on the stage last night, Jhene was criticized on social media because some felt her performance left a lot to be desired.
No stranger to getting people together on Twitter, Jhene checked her critics in a couple of tweets after her mentions blew up (read tweets from bottom to top):
I hate Twitter.
LOL! Me too.
I thought she did good. I’m starting to feel like most people on Twitter are trolls now.
They are.
I like Jhene but she is not a strong performer and she needs to work on that. But people on twitter make you want to go off on them I hope she learns to ignore this and just concentrate on getting better as an artist.
Meh she’s an mediocre singer but her music is good.
She’s not a strong live singer. But her performance wasn’t that bad. People need to chill.
It wasn’t her best performance. But a lot of people sounded like trash last night.
I haven’t seen the performance. I can’t really get into her music. I prefer her on features…but not whole songs.
I prefer her on features too.
Yeah man. She’s like a female version of Weeknd.
Aww damn. Black Twitter shows no mercy.
She just doesn’t do it for me.
She’s nto a strong performer and her performance wasn’t that great. But I don’t believe she deserved to be dragged on twitter for it. Either way, she shouldn’t give trolls that much attention. That’s what they want.
She’s a pretty girl but I’m not really a fan. I prefer Sevyn Streeter.
Performance was terrible.
