Jay Z’s latest business venture got slammed by multiple media outlets and plenty of folks on social media, but the rapper got some good news Tuesday evening.
Apparently Aspiro, the parent company of Tidal, saw its stock surge by 938% after the controversial press event. That’s a great sign for the new streaming company.
Reuters writes:
In what appeared to reflect investors clamouring too late for a piece of Aspiro’s music streaming service Tidal, the shares were up 938 percent at 11 Swedish crowns just before trading was halted …
The event is likely to have spurred interest in Aspiro’s stock, lifting it to a level where buyers looked set to face losses of some 90 percent given the looming squeeze-out of the rump left after Jay-Z’s $54 million acquisition of the company. Those remaining shares will be bought at 1.05 crowns each.
While multiple media outlets claimed Tidal’s celebrity-filled media event was a bad move, it looks like it was a huge hit with investors.
It’s the same thing I say when it comes to the Kardashians. if you don’t like someone, you don’t give them all your attention. If you do, people who are indifferent will get curious and want to see what all the hype is about. I have no doubt in my mind all this backlash is helping Tidal. People just don’t get it. There is no such thing as bad publicity.
Agreed.
Real talk.
I’m not surprised. Everyone is still talking about Tidal. But that’s what haters do. They end up helping the people they hate. Lol.
Ugh
Duh. That’s because this has been nothing but faux outrage. The main people crying about it are the same ones who don’t like the Carters and don’t like to spend money on music anyway. Who cares about them?
I have been using it and I like it thus far. I’m sure exclusive music will make it even more successful. I’m thinking Kanye and Rihanna are going to put their albums on there first.
Hov told em he won’t lose.
From a PR perspective, I have to say I’m not surprised by this. People didn’t like the fact that all those big artists were on that stage, but had it not have been done that way, people wouldn’t still be talking about it. Controversy sells.
They ain’t gonna like this. LOL.
Let Black Twitter tell it, Tidal is doomed. People can be so miserable. It’s just a streaming service. I can’t believe people are so pressed about this.
Good. I hope it keeps succeeding. I’m really turned off by so many people hoping this fails just because Jay Z and Beyonce are involved. People hate to see this couple doing big things.
This whole situation has been a mess but you can see who the fake fans are though. There’s a whole bunch of fake Navy running around here talking bout they ain’t going to use Tidal because it will go to Jay and Beyonce’s pockets like Rih isn’t an investor. It’s a damn shame.
Now see I told you some of your people were fake. They jumped on Rihanna’s ship because they thought liking her would somehow hurt Bey (ridiculous). I hate to say it boo, but I told you so. Don’t worry. We have some frauds too who only came over because they don’t like Rihanna so it is what it is.
LOL. Oh here you go. Nah but Rih has loyal fans too. You know that. I’m just saying you can see the true fans from the fraudulent ones real easy with this Tidal stuff. I’m giving Tidal my coins every month to support Rih.
Girl don’t even get me started. I’m so over these frauds.
Cosign.
Stans will buy anything.
And haters won’t buy anything….because most of you are broke.
Clocked!!
lol
Well damn. Pregnant and still reading these fools like it’s no tomorrow.
sh-t lmao
Now see…LOL.
938%? That’s insane.
I stan for no one and I don’t see what the big deal is. It’s a streaming service. If you don’t want it, nobody can force you to use it. All this soapbox bull is tiring. And it’s done nothing but annoyed the sane people and made them actually see what Tidal really is. So backlash fail.
Yassssss
I would hope so since it’s all people are tweeting about.
Excellent.
Good sh-t.
LOL.
I bet when Apple roll out beats by dre streaming these same haters will be saying it the best thing since slice bread. Sometimes I think these journalist get paid to write bad things about companies. IF Jay Z was endorsing a white company it would be OK,but the moment he owns one its a problem.Tidal have to prices $9.99 for regular audio and $19.99 for the high quality audio
I’m happy for all of them.
Nice.
