It’s been mentioned quite a bit that “Empire” producers originally wanted Wesley Snipes to play Lucious Lyon, but the role eventually went to Terrence Howard instead because Taraji P. Henson was adamant he was best for the part.

Now Wesley is speaking out about why he feels the show would not be a good fit for him.

Rumor Fix writes:

Snipes sat down for an interview with Access Hollywood Friday night, saying he was actually approached to play a lead role on the hit show Empire, but it wasn’t “a good fit.”

“It wasn’t as good of a situation for me,” Wesley told Billy Bush and Kit Hoover on Friday’s Access Hollywood Live about the Empire role.

“[‘The Player’] was a better deal, it was a better combination of people, and I wouldn’t have been able to do the kind of range of acting that I can do on this show,” he added.

As far as for Snipes character on The Player, the star plays a mysterious and cunning boss man who adds an amazing twist to the show.

  1. Hmm I think he may be right. People say he should be Lucious but I disagree. Lucious has this corniness about him Wesley couldn’t pull off.

  2. Naw…….I feel him. The way Fox got Luscious set up I don’t think it would be good for Snipes after his portrayal in the greats like “New Jack City” and “Sugar Hill” he would more so fit in on “Power” in my opinion

  3. He’s got too much swag for Empire. I agree with Treasure though, Power is perfect for him. I hope he makes some appearances.

  4. I’m sure they thought he would bring more of the gangsta feel to the show but it still wasn’t the right fit. Terrence is perfect.

  5. Wesley needs to stop lying. As hard up as he is,I think he’ll take any job he can get. He would have been good in the role. However Terrence has his own style and is doing great.
