“How to Get Away with Murder” is a smash hit for ABC, and it’s the reason Viola Davis won her very first Emmy.
Viola had some people in their feelings because of her acceptance speech, and it’s all because she wasn’t afraid to call out the lack of diversity in Hollywood.
The superb actress just feels like there aren’t enough quality lead roles for black actors and black actresses.
Television is getting a lot more diverse, but Viola can’t understand why it’s taking so long for the television and film industries to look as diverse as the world is in real life.
Her speech may have ruffled some feathers but she isn’t backing down from her views.

This is why I love her.
Me too.
It amazes me how some white people play so dumb about race. It’s always been about equality. Always.
I wish more black celebs were like her.
Me too.
I’m glad she isn’t letting the ignorant people talk her out of speaking up.
She’s always been the one to speak on these issues and I love her for it.
I don’t know why but this kind of lit a fire inside me. Thanks for posting.
Loved it! We need more to speak up in this manner.
