In a recent interview with the Huffington Post, Mo’Nique recalls the moment she felt Tyler Perry didn’t do enough to aid her in the controversy she endured for not promoting “Precious” overseas.
Apparently this all occurred when she had a conversation with Perry backstage at the Hoodie Awards years ago.
She says:
“So when I went up to his dressing room, and Tyler bless his sweet heart, there was a million people in his dressing room and he cleared everyone out so I had my security and I kept my security in. So the main reason I wanted someone else to hear the conversation we were going to have…and he said Mo’Nique you really should consider the stand you’re taking not campaigning for the Oscar. He said because if you get nominated, your next movie will be between three to five million dollars.
“He then said if you win it, you’ll get between six million to eight million dollars. I then said to Tyler Perry, you guys are asking me to do something Tyler, for free. At the time the studio wanted me to go overseas, and promote “Precious,” but at that time Tyler Perry and Oprah Winfrey had both signed on to the film. And I said to Tyler Perry in that meeting, Listen baby, I don’t care where the money comes from. You can give me the money to go overseas to promote this movie. And he said Mo’Nique I’m not in the business to write checks and give away money. And I said Tyler I’m not in the business to work for free.
“Now when he had that conversation with my husband, he said to my husband I agree with what y’all are saying. You’re absolutely right but they just asked me to give you a call…meaning the studio and just had this conversation with me. What I would have appreciated…like I said I can’t speak on Will Smith, I can speak on my personal experience. What I would have appreciated is when the studio called Tyler Perry to talk to him to convince me to go overseas and promote this movie for free, that the same thing Tyler told my husband in saying, you guys are right, I would have appreciated if he said to the studio, hey guys, what Mo’Nique is asking for is right…but instead of him having that conversation with the studio, the conversation was had with me and my husband. And it was almost like you don’t want to mess with the machine. Even though I know you guys are right in what you’re saying, you don’t want to mess with the machine. And as long as we stay afraid of the machine, is as long as we’ll stay in the position we’re in.”

Ras B may be crazy , but I’m a lie detector , he was not lying . Quinton Trevor was done so badly , he said he was bleeding when Marques was penetrating him but Chris told him to keep going . Then , do you ladies remember that little latino looking one from immature? His mom snatched him out the group for salacious activities..Chris only molested the ones whose parents weren’t around , Quinton said it began when his mom went back to Texas . Chris told them that if they wanted fame , there’s a huge price to pay.I remember Quinton being so depressed when he sang Everybody’s Free and Dove Cry behind the scenes . He confessed in church about this and said that he told that dark skin girl from SWV and she told Chris , Chris packed his stuff and kicked him out . He had to get back to Houston from California .His wife knew that he was molesting those boys , she only divorced him once he got blackballed . Smdh ,Chris then told the record lable that Quinton’s voice wasn’t good anymore and he was forgetting his lyrics , LIES .His album had been completed but Chris wouldn’t release it and told him is career was over . He kicked Ras B out too and Chris his cousin! INCEST allegedly ran rampant through their family . Marques is still around but his career is over too . Karrueche was DESPERATE to have filmed with Marques and Chris Stolks..Nasty rapists .QuintonTrevor still has a power house voice , he sings gospel now .Sadly ladies , this type of scandalous abuse is the norm in Hollyweird . Monique was asked to promote her film like every other is asked to promote their film.The studio pays for airfare,hotel and per diem.
I agree with you on this Ras B stuff. I believe bc what mad would go through the ridicule of being called gay and crazy for shedding light on this situation. Abuse does some crazy things to mentally and physically f you up. Also i remember when BET used to do the behind the scenes making of the videos and it was one with Marcus Houston and Chris Stokes was directing and one of the video models was being asked all kinds of questions by Chris Stokes and he was just ridiculing her and by ridiculing her; I mean demeaning her. He has the look of a rapist. I never liked him since then and then when Raz B came out with those allegations it made since. And when B2K broke up and the boys called in to speak; Raz B, JBoog, and Fizz; I remember Boog saying it was like being raped. I believe he meant to say they were raped for real. Either way sometimes you have to go against the grain (in my August Alsina voice) and speak up on things and push for change. It might take years, but at least there will be progress.
