Maxine, Nina and Heather’s relationships remain shaky.
While leaving her condo, Williams tries to talk to Maxine but she’s still angry with him for keeping Shawn’s secret about Nina’s pregnancy.
Shawn goes with Nina to her doctor’s appointment.
Shawn and Nina go to her doctor’s appointment to get a check up on the baby. She’s glad he’s there and he reminds her that he’s there to support her through her pregnancy. He also tells her he believes they can work through her fraudulent Pulitzer.
Meanwhile, Brad doesn’t show up to his therapy session with Heather. Heather is embarrassed because she thought it would get them back on track and make their relationship stronger.
Kibby is pretending to be approaching one year into sobriety, so Julian wants her to throw herself a party in celebration. She doesn’t think anyone would want to come but Nina and Heather pretend to be interested. Maxine tells them they don’t have a choice and they must be in attendance.
Their new guest host, Cecile introduces herself to Heather and Nina in their dressing rooms. Cecile gives Nina her props for the way she’s handled her scandal with Shawn and Andrew.
Nina playfully calls her out about sucking up, but Cecile admits she really wants a permanent spot on the show. Maxine tells her she’s doing well so far, but she hasn’t read Cecile’s book yet.
Cecille joins the panel to talk about how hard it is for Alpha women to settle down because they intimidate men. When Heather says she’s not an Alpha woman, Camille tells her that she is as well as all of the women on the panel.
She goes on to say that Maxine is the biggest Alpha woman on the planet, and she even wrote about her in her book. She offers to hook Maxine up with her equal and this of course doesn’t sit well with William who happens to be watching the show on his phone.
Maxine tells the rest of the ladies that she’s only going on one date and ending it after just for ratings.
Shawn and Nina update Maxine on the doctor’s appointment.
They show her a photo of the sonogram, and she offers to help them find a place closer to her so she can help out when the baby comes. She tells them a unit in her building is up for sale and she can make an offer on it. Shawn declines her offer and tells Nina nothing is free with Maxine.
“Excuse me but did you just turn down a free apartment?” – Nina
“Please. Nothing’s free with my mom. First off, she’s cheap. She’d totally charge us a finder’s fee.” – Shawn
“Ok but we have to start looking. You have a tiny one bedroom and I’m living in a hotel.”
Shawn seems hesitant about looking for a place with Nina.
Nina asks Shawn why he acting so weird and he tells her he’s still upset about the Pulitzer situation. But he assures her he will try to get over it.
Heather is heated about Brad not showing up to the therapy session, so she calls him up to leave an angry voicemail. After she hangs up, she gets reassurance from Cecile that it’s normal for a marriage to have some obstacles. However, Heather tells her she’s not supposed to have issues in her image considering her conservative image.
Maxine goes on her date.
When her date Ben arrives, they mesh pretty well as they discuss their careers and request the same drink – a gin martini.
Ben is a very successful real estate developer and Maxine is impressed by him.
When Maxine returns to her condo, William asks her how her date went. She’s surprised he knew about it but he tells her he watched the show. She tells William that she is going on a second date with Ben.
Kibby and Julian discuss her sobriety party. He surprises her when he gifts her with his one year sober chip. Kibby tells he she can’t take it but Julian insists. They hug and she kisses him on the cheek.
In the dressing room, Cecille tells Maxine that she heard her date with Ben went well.
Maxine says they didn’t hook up but things went really good. They are going on another date.
Heather pulls out her phone and reads a headline that claims Brad has a new woman in his life. She suspects that’s why he didn’t show up to couple’s therapy.
On air, Maxine confirms her date went well but she’s not going to say anything else.
The ladies get relationship advice from Cecile.
During Cecille’s segment, the ladies flip the viewer’s questions on the cue cards and instead ask Cecile for advice on their own relationships.
Heather asks how to get over someone, in which Cecile tells her it’s various ways and it’s ok to date other people to forget someone else.
Kibby asks if it’s ok to pursue someone who isn’t exactly your type, in which Cecile assures is fine.
Nina asks if it’s possible for a couple to overcome trust issues and Cecile says it isn’t, and it’s clear Nina and Shawn are concerned about her answer.
Heather calls Brad to confirm he’s dating the woman he was photographed with and Heather pretends she’s dating someone too. She hangs up the phone and begins drinking wine from the bottle.
Maxine prepares to head out to Kibby’s party and meet Ben, but Williams tries once more to talk. He tells her Shawn didn’t want to tell her about Nina because he didn’t think she understands love and relationships.
“Shawn’s the one you’re mad at, not me. You wanna know the real reason why he didn’t tell you about Nina?” – William
“No.” – Maxine
“He didn’t think that you’d understand. He doesn’t think you get things like love and relationships.” – William
Maxine tells William she needs to go because she’s late to Kibby’s party and William asks her why she can’t just say she’s wrong and apologize.
She leaves for the party without answering him.
Kibby’s party is a disaster.
Kibby realizes that Julian is actually a cool guy outside of being her sobriety coach.
Heather comes over and takes over the kitchen. She’s not happy when she sees that Kibby is serving sliders. She starts getting the cooks together to prepare sushi for the guests.
Maxine brings Ben to the party but questions why Nina and Shawn didn’t come to the party together. Nina doesn’t give her answer, making Maxine figure out something is up between them.
Kibby asks Cecile about having a crush on a man who is always there for her. Cecille tells her to make the first move. It’s obvious Kibby is referring to Julian.
Heather shows Ramona pictures of Brad’s new boo and asks her if she’s prettier. Ramona struggles to answer.
Nina and Shawn have an awkward run-in at the party and struggle to even be around each other.
A detective comes into Maxine’s condo to ask about her deceased husband, Ted. He speaks with William and William tells him that he doesn’t know anything. The detective leaves a card with William to call him if he gets any information since he was on duty the night of Ted’s death.
William calls Maxine while she’s talking to Ben at the party but she ignores his call to continue the conversation. She ends up kissing Ben.
Julian talks to Heather about Brad, and tells her that she could do much better. She thinks he flirted with her.
Cecille and Nina talk again about the advice she gave Nina earlier. She tells Nina she was wrong and as long as both people try in their relationship, they can get past trust issues.
Maxine tells Shawn that he needs to work out whatever he has going on with Nina because they will now be connected for the rest of their lives.
Kibby attempts to tell Julian how she feels, but Heather interrupts the conversation and tells her she needs Julian to help her with something.
It’s clear Heather intends to make her “s*xy mistake” with Julian.
Ben has conversation with Nina about her book, and Shawn is turned off by the fact that she was able to lie so easily about a book she didn’t actually write.
He walks away from her disgusted.
Kibby makes her speech to thank those who supported her sobriety but gets sad when she realizes Julian is nowhere to be found.
Nina confronts Shawn about his attitude towards her.
Shawn tells Nina feels like he fell in love with a woman who didn’t exist. He reminds her that Maxine didn’t have to steal anyone’s work to get where she is in her career. He also tells her she doesn’t have a conscience. Nina gets upset and walks away.
Heather pushes up on Julian.
She gets drunk and tries to get Julian to make out. He’s turned off by the fact that she’s drunk and when she tries to go down on him, Kibby walks in and goes off on her.
After Kibby calls her a whore and a b*tch, Heather walks off in huff not before revealing that Maxine made everyone show up to the party.
Kibby yells at Julian and faults him for pushing her to have the party.
Maxine tells the guests the party is over.
After kicking out the guests, Maxine goes on the rooftop to talk to Kibby. She finds her with a box of wine and Kibby admits she relapsed while Maxine was in a coma and has only been sober for 31 days. Maxine tells Kibby to move on from the relapse and try to stay clean.
Maxine humbles herself, Shawn ends it with Nina.
Ben tries to go to Maxine’s place, but she turns him down and tells her that they are too much alike for a relationship to work.
She goes to her condo and apologizes to William. He accepts and tells her about the detective that came by.
Later, the detective goes to talk to the man who performed Ted’s autopsy. The detective asks why it was no mention of suffocation in his report.
Heather cancels her remaining couple’s therapy sessions with Brad.
Kibby apologizes to Julian for going off on him at the party. He tells her that it’s nothing going on between him and Heather. Kibby tells him she has feelings for him and Julian says he has feelings for her too.
He also feels it’s unprofessional for him to have feelings for her and it means he’s a terrible sobriety coach. So he resigns.
Shawn breaks up with Nina after she asks him if he’s going to tell anyone she didn’t write her book. He’s furious that she would question his loyalty.
Kibby and Heather clash, with both demanding an apology from the other.
The episode ends with the detective examining photos of Maxine and her deceased husband Ted.

Shawn has some nerve telling Nina she doesn’t have a conscience when he had no problem knocking her up while she was married! He needs to off his high horse!

I felt bad for Kibby. I wanted her and Julian to get together.
