Jay-Z’s interview with Rap Radar showcased Jay-Z tackling many topics, from speaking about the black community as a whole, to his relationship with Beyoncé.
He also addressed the meaning behind the names for the twins.
Jay-Z revealed that his daughter Rumi was named after someone he and Beyoncé admire.
“Rumi is our favorite poet, so it was for our daughter.”
Rumi is a Muslim poet who lived in the 13th century, whose poetry is still read today.
When Sir was born, according to Jay, he gave an aura of regality and maturity that couldn’t be captured by any other name.
“Sir was like, man, come out the gate. He carries himself like that. He just came out, like, Sir.”
