Mo’Nique caused quite a controversy over this weekend when she called for a boycott of Netflix after they walked away from negotiating with her for a possible comedy special.
She revealed that she was only offered $500,000 from Netflix, and cited the amounts received by Amy Schumer and Dave Chappelle for their specials. While many fans wondered if she was being too far-fetched in her request, a rise in support from African-Americans in Hollywood is occurring.

Damn Wanda too?
That’s crazy to see Wanda Sykes to be offered what she was by Netflix. They really don’t seem to value black women. I also heard the black kid on Stranger Things was also low-balled.
I came on here to say that!! How does that new little white girl just come in and make more money than Caleb?!! That really pissed me off!!
Mo is still delusional. How can she say she’s the most decorated comedian alive? Did we forget about Whoopi?
Whoopi is not for black people. She will never get out here and risk anything to speak on behalf of black people.
I dropped my Netflix subscription.
People need to do their research on Netflix!! They low ball black people all the time!!
Ok I really think I’m going to go ahead and side with MoNique now. If this is happening to other black women, then there is an issue and Netflix needs to be called out.
Netflix is trash.
Equal pay for all do your thing Mo!!
Awesome. I hope more speak out in support.
I don’t always agree with Monique or her methods but Netflix definitely low balled her and did the same thing to Wanda Sykes we need answers.
She was dragged a few days ago now everybody team Mo…. people so funny
Look at black folks supporting other black folks. Now that’s progress!
First of all, Monique does not deserve what Amy Schumaker was offered at this point because she has not been active in the industry lately. The only thing Monique has been doing is stirring up sh-t for the last couple of years. Nobody is going to pay Monique millions of dollars right now because she is known as a troublemaker in the industry. She is delusional for thinking she deserves that kind of money. Dave Chappell was payed $60 million by Netflix because people were anticipating his comeback. Monique needs to get it together and start working her way back up to where she used to be in the industry, then maybe she will get paid what she is worth. I love Netflix for giving Katt Williams and Dave Chappelle another chance. I’m keeping my subscription. Screw Monique’s loud mouth, daily ranting on social media a$$.
You are so right. The fact that she took $50.000 from a brother, because it was his movie and he wanted her in it Precious. but you want take 500.000$ from a white man! Netflix…I’m confused. And Yo brother who said your Black Ball, want help you. Wow!!! Why we not boycotting him?
In the workplace, white people have higher salaries than black people. And black women make the absolute least. I’m not surprised that this is also happening in the entertainment industry. People like to bring up what Dave made and excuse it, but they don’t talk about the fact that Comedy Central did him dirty and paid him peanuts which is why he went ghost for the years he did. Dave learned from that experience and promised himself he would never allow anyone to underpay him again. So why drag MoNque for doing what Dave did and standing up for herself too? I’m sure he’s not mad about her asking for her money. He gets it and one day I hope all black people wake up and get it too. If you don’t ask, you will not receive. Something good will come out of this. And all the people who said Monique is irrelevant and Amy deserves it are going to be on the wrong side of history. Black women as a whole aren’t getting paid in Hollywood. You don’t like Monique, fine. But your favorites, Taraji, Viola, Gabby, Octavia, Lupita,Kerry, etc. ain’t making nowhere near those white actresses. That’s why there weren’t any black actresses on that Forbes highest paid actress list last year. Y’all need to wake up. This isn’t just about Monique. It’s about all of us.
