On June 22nd, Marvel’s Luke Cage returns to Netflix. Harlem’s superhero, having taken care of Diamondback and Willis Stryker, has the criminal underworld on edge.
Marvel recently released a trailer, and early on, Luke found newfound celebrity as Harlem’s protector. Kids and women flock towards Luke while criminals struggle to fight back. That is until Luke Cage gets challenged by a new villain.
The man with a Caribbean accent challenges Luke Cage to a street fight, and easily defeats Luke. Bushmaster appears to have similar strengths to Luke, including being able to withstand multiple shots from automatic weapons. Misty Knight also learns of Bushmaster, and they both have to take him down before Harlem suffers.
Speaking of Misty Knight, Misty loses her right arm, as she does in the comics. However, despite the loss, she gains new abilities with a bionic arm.
Lastly, Rosario Dawson and Alfrie Woodard reprise their roles as Claire Temple and Mariah Dillard respectively. Claire tends to her boyfriend Luke Cage and his wounds from dealing with Bushmaster. Meanwhile, Mariah, a seedy politician, tries to take advantage of the chaos caused by Bushmaster’s antics.
The cool thing about the season is that all episodes will be named after songs by the rap duo Pete Rock & CL Smooth.
I’m so ready!
