Nova shoots promotional material for the book.
The season premiere begins with Nova filming a commercial for her book “Blessing and Blood.” She calls the book her, “blessing and sacrifice.”
Throughout the process, Nova is completely nervous. A possible sign of things to come for Nova.
After the commercial, her editor Deborah calls her excited about the book. Deborah tells her that the New York Times wants to write a review for the book. However, Nova’s nervous about how her family’s going to take the book. Nova says it’s going to kick them while they’re down.
Meanwhile, Charley’s with her friend at a spa on a spur of the moment vacation halfway across the world. Aunt Vi and Holywood are shopping for shopping at a market for their honeymoon.
When Charley, Aunt Vi, and Hollywood return home, Aunt Vi is hitting the ground running for her business.
Ralph Angel’s probation officially ends and Aunt Vi’s new diner opens.
Ralph Angel is with Benny on the farm. Everyone is getting ready for the harvest. He receives a letter from the state of Louisiana. His probation has concluded. Things are definitely looking up for him.
Everyone is back home and is getting ready to participate in a second line parade. When it begins, they are all having a good time as they celebrate the grand opening of Aunt Vi’s new diner and pie shop. The name of the restaurant is Vi’s Prized Pies & Diner.
Before the ribbon cutting, Hollywood presents Aunt Vi with a crown. Inside, everyone gets down with various activities. Even Blue has a snack stand called Blue’s Corner. Councilwoman Barrera stopped by to celebrate too.
Council Barrera gave a gift from Francis Boudreaux and Ralph Angel’s former probation officer talks to him about participating in a re-entry program.
Darla stopped by too with a gift that makes Blue happy. However, Aunt Vi kept things really short with her.
“There’s plenty of pie if you want before you go.” – Aunt Vi
Ralph Angel tells Aunt Vi to act nicer to Darla but she brushes him off. Darla asks Ralph Angel to keep Blue for the weekend because she has a date, and he agrees.
Hollywood warns Nova about her book.
Things stop when Boogie’s cousin Junior, played by Tevin Campbell, stops by to sing Amazing Grace.
As the party goes on, Hollywood asks Nova when they get to read the book.
“What did you put in the book?” – Hollywood
He warns Nova that if she’s going to be revealing family secrets, the family needs to be the first to know.
The next morning, Nova has a dream playing with Charley and Ralph Angel as kids. When running back to the house, Nova trips. When she gets up, she sees her siblings dressed in white staring at her.
This dream forcibly wakes her up. Meanwhile, Charley’s with her friend and he knows it’s a big deal to be introduced to her son Micah. However, Charley is clearly smitten with him and isn’t thinking, “that far ahead.”
She then departs for her “Boss Women in NOLA” meeting.
Blue’s with Ralph Angel playing catch when another kid jumps in taking the ball. Her mom Deesha jumps in before things get out of hand. She compliments Blue on his name. Deesha and Ralph Angel exchange handshakes.
Nova stops by the mill to invite Charley for lunch and to talk about the book. Charley’s surprised when Nova gives her a copy of the book.
Next, Nova stops by the diner to see Aunt Vi. She steps into Vi’s office, placing a copy on Aunt Vi’s desk.
Later on, Ralph Angel and Blue are working on the farm when Nova stops by to give him a copy of the book. When she stops inside the farmhouse, she sees a photo of their dad. That causes her to tear up when she puts Ralph Angel’s copy on her desk.
When Nova leaves, Blue and Ralph Angel are inside showing things they are proud of. Blue shows a drawing of a pie to Ralph Angel and RA shows Blue his freedom letter. Ralph Angel explains why he got the letter.
Charley is blindsided.
That night, Charley is honored with an award from the Boss Women of NOLA. During her speech, a reporter asks her if she’s supportive of all women. The reporter read an advance copy of the book and revealed she read about “disturbing details” of Davis’ cheating scandal. Specifically how she paid off Davis’ mistress Melina Galoudian from speaking out about the alleged rape.
The question stuns Charley and the room.
When she gets home, Charley downs a glass of win and angrily reads her copy.
Ralph Angel gets a call from Charley the next morning about Nova’s book early the next morning. He receives a stern warning from Charley to not read the book. On the way to farm, Charley calls her lawyer regarding setting up a cease and desist for the book. Meanwhile, Hollywood sees Aunt Vi’s copy and begins to read it. Lastly, Ralph Angel reads the portion of the book that talks about Blue’s paternity.
The episode ends with Nova leaving a copy of the book at Earnest’s resting place.

The episode ends with Nova praying for strength to see everything through.
