BBWLA Reunion Highlights: Jennifer Addresses Restitution Drama + What Do Court Docs Say?

The “Basketball Wives” cast addressed many issues at the reunion, including the Cabo trip drama. Here are the highlights.

Jackie and Brandi continue to clash.

Brandi and Jackie’s previous blowups are discussed. Jackie once again apologizes for saying things that were hurtful to Brandi. Brandi expected more from Jackie because they are supposed to have a sisterhood as wives to NBA players. When Jackie begins to explain she said these things while angry on a phone call to Sundy, Brandi becomes irritated. She then tells Jackie she is the one who needs to get a divorce. When Brandi says, “Free Doug,” Jackie tells Brandi to keep her husband’s name out of her mouth. Some fingers get put in faces but cooler heads prevail. The group moves on to the status of Brandi’s marriage.

Brandi calls out Brooke.

When it comes to Brandi and Jason’s current standing, Brandi confirms she is still trying to figure things out. She isn’t against filing for divorce. But she does want to exhaust all of her options. There are moments when she wants to leave and others when she wants to work things out. What she finds more hurtful about it all is her husband’s infidelities are thrown in her face during arguments.

Evelyn reveals she came for Brandi’s marriage because she doesn’t like Jason and it was about getting the upper hand in an argument. But she recognizes that she’s been in Brandi’s shoes before, so out of respect she won’t comment on Brandi’s marriage again.

Brandi then moves on to Brooke. She calls out Brooke for not sticking up for her marriage when Evelyn made the negative comment in front of her. Brooke says she wasn’t in the best place with Brandi when Evelyn commented. Regardless, Brooke doesn’t believe she should have to take sides when two friends are feuding. She tells Brandi she should understand this since Brandi didn’t pick a side when Brooke wasn’t good with Jackie.

Brandi says Evelyn and Brooke run the group.

Hypocrisy is brought up when Brandi and Jac’Eil point out that they were called out for trying to bring Jackie back into the group. However, everyone was ready to move forward with Jackie once Evelyn decided she wanted to. Brandi takes this moment to express that the group follows behind whatever Evelyn thinks or wants. Brooke is the second in command because people are afraid of her.

Jac’Eil denies being afraid of Brooke or being a follower. But Brandi stands by her assessment. When Brooke claims that she believes the real issue is Brandi is frustrated from trying to find her place in the group, Brandi tells her this isn’t the case.

Brooke and Cheyenne face off.

Cheyenne addresses the tension she had with Brooke. Both women confirm they knew each other before the show thanks to mutual friends. However, they were never friends. Jac’Eil once again denies that Brooke “gay bashed” Cheyenne’s loved one, but Cheyenne isn’t hearing it. She says Brooke intended to be disrespectful, but she wasn’t capable of beating up any of Cheyenne’s people that day so she retreated. And Brooke stayed seated in her chair like she’s doing now because she’s all talk.

The Cabo drama is next for discussion. Cheyenne clarifies she wasn’t trying to fight Brandi at any point that night. She only intended to get in the middle of Jackie and Brandi to keep them from having a physical altercation.

Jennifer becomes defensive when her engagement is up for discussion.

Nina asks Jennifer to respond to a lawyer clarifying that Christian’s restitution was $12,500 and not the $250,000 he told her on the show. Jennifer says the lawyer got it wrong and that motions were filed to amend the restitution because of hospital bills. (Urban Belle did not find any court documentation to support this – Christian and his attorney confirmed the restitution was $12,500 in court documents filed 8/20/24).

She goes on to say the restitution was paid (Urban Belle can confirm court documents support this – restitution was paid before Christian’s last hearing on 9/6/24) and the couple is ready to move on from Christian’s past case.

Nina inquires if Jennifer helped Christian pay the restitution. She avoids answering the question but says Christian never asked her to pay for anything. Interestingly enough, Jennifer said in a past episode that she told Christian she could help him pay the debt.

Evelyn becomes emotional and says the restitution situation wasn’t the problem for her. What bothered her is Christian’s legal situation stemmed from a “domestic issue.” Jennifer says this isn’t true and Christian was “acquitted for anything domestic.” (According to court documents, Christian was acquitted of domestic violence battery and convicted of false imprisonment. He also had to complete a domestic violence intervention program.)

Audio of Evelyn’s real thoughts is played.

Jennifer’s comment about it would have been better if Christian just let his ex “get in a car crash” to avoid his current legal issues bothered Evelyn and Brooke. It was triggering for Evelyn due to her own past of domestic violence. Brooke found the comment triggering due to her daughter passing away from a car accident. Jennifer defensively says she was only repeating what Christian’s lawyer said when she made this comment.

Brooke takes Jennifer’s hand softly and says it was triggering to hear Jennifer try to tell the victim’s story. Jennifer denies that she did this and Brooke realizes they won’t get anywhere due to Jennifer’s defensiveness.

Nina surprises the cast with news that producers want to play audio of someone speaking on their concerns about Christian. It’s Evelyn. In the audio, she says Jennifer ends up with questionable men often because she’s not street-smart. But she suspects Christian is doing some “scammy stuff.” And she’s not comfortable with Jennifer marrying him.

When Jennifer is asked her thoughts on what Evelyn said, Jennifer says she feels bad for Christian because he doesn’t deserve the skepticism.

Regardless, all the women agree that they want what’s best for Jennifer. But they feel they have to tiptoe around the topic because she’s so defensive.

  1. I’m sick of Brandi. She’s worried about her son reading about Jason’s cheating when her and Jason took their silly a-ses on Iyanla to tell us he cheated with 300 people. They need to stop blaming everybody else when they aired out their own dirt for a check.
