On the series finale of “Power Book II: Ghost,” Tariq and the Tejadas handle unfinished business. Here is the recap for, “Ghost in the Machine.”
Diana is focused.
Tariq points his gun at Detective Carter while he remains tied up in a chair. Carter reminds Tariq that he has footage of him and Brayden killing Zion. The video will be released if he is not freed.
Davis calls Tariq to inform him of Monet’s death. Now Tariq feels they have no choice but to break into Carter’s place and steal the footage. They also have to find leverage on Carter.
Dru, Cane, and Diana are still in shock. They can’t believe Monet is gone. While Cane ultimately believes her death is his fault, Diana doesn’t think it’s time for finger-pointing. She tells them the focus must be avenging Monet’s murder. So it’s time for Noma to go.
Tariq finds leverage.
Effie and Brayden make it to Carter’s house. They quickly discover that they can only delete the video of Zion’s murder on Carter’s work computer at the precinct. But Effie’s notice of Carter’s habit of checking Kamaal Tate’s murder file comes in handy. Tariq tells Carter he knows he is responsible for Kamaal’s death. Kamaal likely found out Carter was a dirty cop so Carter killed him. Carter tries to deny this. But Tariq has found his leverage.
Noma finally comes clean to her daughter Anya about the family business. She reveals she learned about her family’s involvement in the drug game at 10 years old. Watching her mother be killed by rivals hardened her. When Noma admits she killed Anya’s father because he got in her way, Anya calls Noma a monster. Anya is later kidnapped by the Tejada kids and their cousins.
Tariq confronts Carter with evidence that shows he killed Kamaal. Past ballistics from past crime scenes involving Carter match the crime scene. Plus, Tariq knows which gun was used. Carter seemingly agrees to a deal in which everyone walks away with a clean slate.
Diana blindsides the others.
Effie, Tariq, and Brayden give condolences to the Tejadas for Monet’s death. It’s agreed that Carter and Noma must still be dealt with. Dru will go to the precinct to delete the video of Zion’s murder. Tariq agrees to talk Anya into giving up Noma’s location. He’s able to do this by coming clean to Anya about working for Noma.
Tariq takes Anya to the secret meeting location Noma told her about. Before Anya can safely make it into the building, Diana lights up Anya’s body with bullets. Noma screams as she watches Anya take her last breaths. The Tejada siblings are able to get away. Diana later tells Tariq she wanted Noma to feel the pain she was feeling. Noma is still the focus she insists. She points out Noma won’t leave the country now because she’ll want revenge for Anya’s death. Tariq wants no parts. He instead asks Dru to set up a meeting with Detective Halston.
Halston takes care of Carter.
Carter ends up replacing Halston at the meeting. However, Halston is there to overhear Carter agree to pin Tate’s murder on Halson so Carter can be free to conduct business with Tariq. Halson calls out Carter for betraying him and many others while placing Carter in handcuffs.
The siblings book Noma’s private jet company to set up her death. They know she won’t resist getting payback. When Anya’s brother Chinedu tells her the family business is pulling out of her feud with the Tejadas, Noma is ready to face them alone.
Diana, Dru, and Cane are met by the feds when they arrive at the hangar for Noma’s private jet company. Noma became an Informant to shield herself from the Tejadas. While Diana and Dru are being walked off in handcuffs, Cane kills Noma. He’s able to escape despite a couple of gunshot wounds.
Effie comes through for Cane one last time.
Davis convinces the prosecuting attorney and detectives to pin everything on Noma to help their careers. He will also get his law license back. The Tejadas will testify to this in exchange for Dru and Diana’s freedom. They say Cane’s location is unknown.
Cane is healing up at Effie’s. Police are looking for Cane all over New York. She gives him the cash she saved up to pay for her graduate program. He kisses her on the forehead and promises to pay her back one day.
Diana is ready to restart the family business with Dru now that Cane made it safely out of New York. However, Dru isn’t interested. He’s planning to move to Paris to focus on his art career instead. All Diana has left are memories of better days when the family was still together.
An empire realized.
Tariq visits Tasha to tell her he’s taking her out of the witness protection program. But he’s not leaving the drug game. He will make sure Tasha and Yas never have to worry about money again. They will live away from New York to stay safe. Tariq realized he couldn’t have a family and be on top of the drug game.
After making things right for Tasha and Yas, Tariq meets with Brayden and Effie. It’s back to business as usual. Effie will be in charge of pushing product on campus while Brayden handles the fight club and underground activities. One change made is Brayden will no longer be Tariq’s partner due to his drug habits.
Tariq was able to get Noma’s brother Chinedu to still provide product in exchange for access to Tariq’s New York City pipeline. He also has Halston on his payroll so the cops don’t bother the business. Davis keeps the money clean now that he has his law license back. So Tariq’s thriving empire is finally a reality. He receives a phone call from someone who needs his help. He assures this person that he’ll take out whoever is necessary because they are family. The scene concludes with a message that reads, “Power Never Ends.”
