Riley Burruss Calls out ‘Next Gen NYC’ Costar for Alleged Racial Bias

Riley Burress is officially starring in her first reality show on Bravo. “Next Gen NYC” follows the lives of some of the children raised by Bravo stars as well as other nepo babies. Although it’s just the first season, it’s already been interesting watching the cast get to know each other better and form relationships. To no surprise, that means there will be tension as they go through the process. During the most recent episode, Riley clashed with Charlie Zakkour. Charlie’s father, Anwar Zakkour, is a retired investment banker. Charlie previously complained about being on a show with the children of “Real Housewives” stars.

The tension between Riley and Charlie kicked off after the cast discussed Riley’s recent engagement with a couple of young ladies Charlie was hanging out with. Riley thought it was not polite for the young ladies not to introduce themselves to the rest of the group. Charlie remembered the moment differently. In his opinion, Riley accosted the young lady.

He tried to imitate Riley by rolling his neck and said, “Dylan and I are talking to these two girls, and she goes up to one of them like, ‘Yo, you think it’s cool to just be here with Charlie but not come up and make sure it’s cool with me?'”

Riley said it did not happen like this, “I went up and I said, ‘Hey, I’m Riley. You didn’t say anything, you didn’t introduce yourself.'”

After Charlie claims Riley didn’t introduce herself either, she breaks down in tears and calls out what she feels is racial bias.

“I’m just so mad because every single time y’all do this. And I try not to make it a thing, but I hate when you guys try to play this like I’m scary or scaring a random white girl. It’s just so annoying. That’s cause it’s a real thing I have to go through every day. I’m so ******* nice to everybody. And there’s always like everyone tries to come off when I’m talking to a white girl that I’m trying to scare them. No, your girls are rude and it’s disrespectful. You’re around people, introduce yourselves.”

Charlie responds, “I don’t know if them being white is relevant. It’s not a racial thing. There are aspects of this conversation that I think are a little bit extra…”

Riley then says, “It’s not extra for me!”

At some point in the conversation, Charlie insists the lady Riley spoke to was a “little girl.” Riley thought this was ridiculous.

“Little girl? What do you mean? She’s probably older than me! Because I’m taller, I scared her?”

She added, “I just don’t like that y’all are trying to spin the narrative like I’m some scary black girl when I’m not.”

Charlie attempts to deny that his comments were rooted in racial bias. But Riley wouldn’t budge.

“It’s your mannerisms, Charlie. You do this all the time.”

She continued, “You don’t realize when you do ****. And it’s annoying because it’s bigger than just this stupid conversation because this is the **** I have to deal with, and you’re adding on to it.”

Ava Dash eventually stepped in and encouraged Charlie to apologize to Riley. He did.

Riley called Kandi Burruss to tell her what happened. Kandi praised her for speaking up for herself.

Meanwhile, Charlie told co-star Georgia McCann that he didn’t mean his apology. He only apologized so the group could move on. Georgia and her roommate repeated this to Ava, and she wasted no time informing Riley. Riley and the group confront Charlie about his insincerity. He confirms he only apologized to end the tension.

Riley is paying close attention.

  1. Yeah I think Riley was raised well by Kandi. I don’t think Kandi take any mess either. If you speak she speak if you don’t she won’t and I blame her.

  2. I’m so sick of all these nepo babies with their manufactured problems! So typical. So boring.

  3. There was no need for him to roll his neck and point his finger like that while imitating Riley. The fact that they think all black women are aggressive with attitude problems is weird. White people like this need to stop thinking every black person is a walking stereotype. It’s racist. Riley has never shown any sign of aggression. By the way, that Charlie guy filed for bankruptcy. He is a loser and needs to get his life together. Meanwhile Riley is on her way to becoming an attorney.
