In the recent episode of “Power Book IV: Force,” Tommy uses Vic to weaken his enemies. However, his arrogance drags the coalition into a war they didn’t want. Here is the recap for “There’s Always a Price to Pay.”
Vic is given an important job to do.
Tommy and Diamond torture Vic by dunking his head under water while demanding he do what he is told. Now that they know he’s a snitch for the feds, he will be used as an inside man. Vic will visit his sister Claudia to tell her that Tommy is going after her girlfriend’s clubs. Tommy plans on getting even with her for sending the Marquez cartel his way.
Che is in Mexico, which will give Tommy and CBI an opportunity to take on Miguel and strike a deal with the Albanians. By causing issues with their supply (Miguel and the Insane Princes), the Albanians will want to work with Tommy when the money gets low.
Diamond suggests they set Miguel’s warehouse on fire to hurt his supply, and Tommy agrees.
Claudia has a plan.
After the warehouse is taken care of, Tommy visits D-Mac’s friend Marshall to locate his nephew. When he finds him, Tommy tells D-Mac to move on from his dream of being in CBI. He’s not cut out for it because he’s too reckless.
D-Mac tells Tommy he doesn’t want to be in CBI anymore anyway because they are always giving him the runaround. However, this was a lie. He waits for Tommy to leave to tell Marshall he still wants to be in CBI and he has a scheme to make a lot of cash fast.
Shanti still wants Tommy dead, even though he had her back when they were ambushed by the Marquez cartel. So she proposes that she and Jenard meet Che before they take out Tommy and Diamond. This way, they will have a smoother transition to leading CBI after Diamond and Tommy’s deaths. So Shanti needs Jenard to spend more time with Diamond so he’ll be easier to manipulate.
Tommy and Mireya are shot at while out for pizza, and a CBI associate, Bones, is shot. Mireya puts her nursing skills to use to patch up Bones. Tommy tells Jenard to find out which Marquez cartel member was the shooter. This doesn’t mean he will have an easy way back into CBI as far as Tommy is concerned.
Claudia meets with Stacey and convinces her to take down Tommy together. Since Claudia is in prison, Stacy threatens to put her in a worse place if things turn messy.
D-Mac’s plan fails.
Tommy tells Vic to talk to Stacy and put a bug in her ear about his conflict with the Marquez cartel.
Diamond and Jenard argue over D-Mac’s fate. While Diamond wants him killed to satisfy King Kilo, Jenard fears doing it now will cause Tommy to burn down the entire business. So Diamond agrees to put a hold on D-Mac’s death for now, but it has to happen eventually if they don’t want Kilo to take them out.
Miguel and one of his men confront Tommy for burning down his warehouse. Tommy brushes this off, and Miguel tells his guy that they will take down Tommy discreetly.
Claudia tells her girlfriend, Elise, to work with Tommy and sell his drugs at her clubs to keep her alive. She doesn’t want to work with Tommy again, but must play the game to stay safe.
Ortega is put in solitary confinement after Vic told Stacy that Tommy was focused on taking out the Marquez cartel. This now means Ortega will be out of the way while Tommy focuses on Miguel, the Albanians, and Stacy.
Jenard heads to Marshall’s place and sees that D-Mac recently robbed a gambling spot in Chinatown. He stole cash and fentanyl. D-Mac hands over some cash and fentanyl to Jenard to show he’s ready to be a part of CBI. Jenard takes the drugs and cash but tells D-Mac he has to lay low. CBI doesn’t have time to deal with him because of their beef with the cartel. D-Mac is disappointed.
The coalition is dragged into Tommy’s mess.
Tommy gets his wish with the Albanians. They agree to make CBI their drug connect and move on from Miguel.
Jenard locates the Marquez cartel shooter. Tommy kills him while he has Ortega listen in on speakerphone. Ortega vows to get revenge and take out Tommy, CBI, and the entire coalition they have with other gangs.
Miguel hires a hitman named Mihito to take out Tommy and make sure the Insane Princes won’t be linked to his death.
Tommy comes busting into the coalition meeting, holding the head of the Marquez cartel shooter who was behind the recent drive-by. Everyone is put off by this and fears that it isn’t smart to go against the cartel. However, Jenard calms everyone down and gives assurance that they can take down the cartel together. The coalition just needs to remain loyal.
After everyone leaves, Jenard and Diamond tell Tommy that he’s responsible for all the trouble. And they will not let him mess up what they built with CBI.
Tommy receives a text from JP while he’s at Mireya’s. Kate checked herself out of the hospital and went back to New York.
The episode ends with one of the Marquez cartel members killing coalition members in retaliation for losing one of their own the day before.
