In the latest episode of “Married to Medicine,” Simone and Cecil clash over their son’s credit card debt. Here are the highlights for “The Players Ball.”

A birthday party puts Simone and Contessa’s marriages under a microscope.

Quad and her boyfriend, King, discuss their baby journey. Jackie is Quad’s stateside doctor, but she’s been seeing a doctor in Ghana due to a friend’s referral. This friend became pregnant with triplets at the age of 46. So Quad knew this was worth looking into. So far, she’s had two egg retrievals.

Contessa throws a birthday party for herself with a Players Ball theme. Guests come in afros and other 70s-inspired outfits. Toya shades Scott for not planning the party for Contessa. He only makes things more awkward when he says his deceased mother said that Contessa reminded him of Rose from “The Titanic.” Contessa loved Scott so much that she’d come back for him if they were on the Titanic and she was rescued first.

As the night goes on, the ladies come together to chat. Contessa is asked if she’s okay with the fact that Scott didn’t plan her birthday party. She says she is fine with it because she got to have the event the exact way she wanted it. Toya then asks if she could have just told Scott what she wanted and still let him plan it.

Simone steps in to say she believes women teach men how to treat them early into the relationship. So if a woman lowers the bar, it will remain there. She recalls Cecil not getting her a Mother’s Day card while she was nursing their eldest.

Contessa says that ultimately, it’s most likely Scott just figured she would handle her own birthday party because she takes charge of things all the time. She then accuses everyone of being sexist for making her party about Scott.

Simone clashes with Cecil and their son over credit card debt.

Cecil and Simone sit down with their sons to discuss their spending habits. Michael alone is responsible for a $60,000 credit card debt. When she asks Michael how he plans to finance his law school ambitions, Michael says he plans for Simone to pay the bill. Simone feels like she should only be paying for the roof over Michael’s head. And she paid for her own education with scholarships and loans. In response, Michael says that his grandmother wasn’t able to do what Simone can do financially.

Michael brings up “white kids” with rich parents who pay for their education, who are able to become millionaires after they graduate. In response, Simone asks Michael about the rich kids who make nothing out of themselves because their parents paid for everything.

Cecil steps in to say Michael’s point was valid, and they are “blessed” because they can help their kids. This results in an argument between Simone and Cecil because Simone believes Cecil never has her back when it comes to their children. And oftentimes, it feels like it’s 3 vs. 1.

Simone is about done.

Contessa shades Brandi’s birthday party, which was planned by her husband. While the group is seated and eating, Contessa says the event is more like a dinner party than a birthday party. It becomes clear to Simone, Brandi, and Toya that Contessa is still feeling some type of way about Scott not planning her birthday party. In a confessional, Heavenly says she has learned to stay out of Contessa’s marriage. In her opinion, Contessa will complain about Scott and then get angry at the others for remembering this.

The episode ends on a cliffhanger after Simone says she no longer wants to be married.

  1. I couldn’t be Simone because I would have squared up with my son and husband if they ever sat around discussing how they are going to spend my money and they don’t make any! F-ck that!

  2. Simone & Cecil only address their son’s futures when the cameras are on. Every season they’re having the same conversation.

Them boys are spoiled and these are the consequences.

  3. Cecil can sit around talk it up the guys…But stand up to his son..What does he contribute financially wise? Simone needs to divorces all them..
The credit card statement where was it being sent?

  4. As far as Contessa, she always takes the lead in anything she wants, so if she wanted to plan her own party 🥳 that’s what she wanted to do. Now Simone is right, she paid for her son’s education as far as college, if he wants to further it,he should do it on his own. Not think his mother Simone to pay for it because she has the money and to compare himself to what white people do,was really out of line and entitled to think that Simone is responsible for his further education. Cecil should of had his wife’s back in this chat, instead of backing their son. Now he has a wife that’s mad at him and their son and this might be the beginning of their end. A man should always have his wife’s back on everything… unless she is very wrong!!!
