Here’s the recap for “Squab-Belle Up.”
Lateshia and Latrice’s argument explodes at Selena’s birthday.
Lateshia is stunned as her 50th birthday celebration spirals out of control due to her ongoing conflict with Latrice. She says she has never seen things escalate between them the way they did that night. She questions why they would act out at her party. Shante tells others there was a fight outside, prompting people to rush out to check on Lateshia.
The argument centers on accusations that Lateshia contacted Latrice’s employees. Lateshia denies ever reaching out to any current or former employees and insists there is no truth to the claim. She attempts to clarify that when someone named Josh contacted her, she did not pursue anything further. As tensions rise, Glen physically steps in and pulls Lateshia behind him. He shields her from the crowd that has surrounded her while yelling.
Afterward, Lateshia says she has never had that many people around her at once, wanting to fight her. Glen questions what motive she is being accused of having. He asks what she would gain from contacting Latrice’s employees. Lateshia says she feels shocked that someone she allowed into her space could have that type of hate toward her. She says she never expected that from Latrice.
Marie checks on Lateshia as tension builds over loyalty.
Marie stops by Lateshia’s house after the blowup at Selena’s birthday and says she felt bad that Lateshia and Latrice nearly came to blows. Lateshia tells her she has never felt like she was about to be jumped. She questions how things escalated to the point where Latrice accused her of sending Shante and contacting her employees. Lateshia shows Marie text messages from Josh dated March 2024. She explains that he reached out because he wanted to expose Latrice over issues related to him not being allowed to attend events and being made to work.
After reviewing the messages, Marie says what Latrice is claiming is not true and feels it is being blown out of proportion. She calls it a possible “get back” situation. Lateshia then brings up feeling confused that Shante had her back during the confrontation, but Marie appeared to stand by Latrice afterward. She says she expected it to be “us against them” in that moment.
Marie responds that Latrice is also her friend and reminds Lateshia that when she and Latrice had their own issues, Lateshia did not choose sides. Lateshia says she believes Marie is still holding a grudge because she did not explicitly say Latrice was wrong during their past conflict. She ends the conversation by saying she does not need anyone to have her back because she feels protected and favored. However, she acknowledges Shante for standing outside with her during the chaos.
The ladies question what really happened between Lateshia and Latrice.
The group gathers at Latrice’s house, marking the first time some of them have been back since earlier tension involving Glen. Lateshia offers an apology for the chaos at Selena’s birthday. She tells Latrice it was never her intention to ruin the event. She says she has always supported her in a positive way.
The conversation also touches on a recent health scare after Lateshia reveals she was diagnosed with a serious blood clot. She admits she did not understand how life-threatening blood clots can be and describes the situation as a wake-up call. She reflects on who showed up for her during that time.
Discussion returns to the birthday altercation. Lateshia says she was already dealing with her health scare when Latrice accused her of contacting disgruntled former employees. She insists she has proof that an employee said Latrice reached out. Others in the group say they are not choosing sides. They emphasize that Lateshia and Latrice’s relationship runs deeper than what the rest of them see. Lateshia ultimately states she does not trust Latrice and feels she cannot go back to how things were. She says if someone can show that level of disloyalty, she is done.
Kerri gets tough love from her parents about her restaurant.
Kerri is surprised by an impromptu visit from her parents as she works to get settled back in Jackson with her kids. During the visit, her parents question how often she eats out and suggest she should be cooking at home more. Kerri explains that she grew up with two entrepreneurial parents and credits them for her drive. She notes her father coached her in basketball and her mother owned a business before women-owned businesses were common.
She updates them on the chaos at Selena’s birthday party, explaining how the situation between Lateshia and Latrice escalated after Selena opened the floor for everyone to speak. Kerri says she is trying to bring peace and does not want additional drama in her life while managing her businesses.
The conversation shifts to Brick & Spoon in Mobile. Kerri explains that she and Brittany bought into the location and completed renovations, but the store is underperforming. Her mother suggests putting it up for sale and concentrating on the successful Mississippi locations. Kerri resists, saying she would likely lose money and admits it is hard to acknowledge that one of her stores is not performing well. She says she expects tough love from her mother but, in that moment, wants a little sympathy instead.
Lateshia tells Glen it’s a “just in case” as their marriage tensions escalate.
Lateshia thanks Glen for having her back during the altercation at Selena’s birthday, and he tells her he will not let anyone disrespect her again. However, the conversation shifts when Glen questions why he has not been included in her business meetings or talk show focus groups. He says he wants them to build together. He asks if she feels he brings bad energy.
Lateshia says she wants to be in situations because she chooses to be, not because she has to be. She admits that part of her financial independence plan is a “just in case.” She says they have been through similar situations before and explains that she is now focusing on herself after years of catering to him and being submissive. Glen responds that preparing for a backup plan signals doubt in him.
The disagreement intensifies when Glen brings up Donald, Lateshia’s investor, and questions whether she is leaning on another man. Lateshia asks if he trusts her. She says Donald is not a threat but someone investing in her growth. She then reveals she has chosen to be celibate for clarity and explains she wants to ensure she is making clear decisions. The conversation ends abruptly when Glen walks away before she can finish speaking. This leaves Lateshia frustrated as Glen drives off in his truck and refuses to answer her calls.
