In Part 1 of the “Married to Medicine” reunion, Eugene and Steve clash backstage over the Med Gala ticket situation. Quad addresses her breakup and responds to accusations of using King for a storyline. Here are the highlights.
Criticism of Toya and Eugene’s marriage is discussed.
Toya’s marriage is the first topic. She reacts to a fan who wrote in with a critical question. They asked if it’s possible that Eugene took a job out of town to get away from Toya’s disrespect. In response, Toya says a lot of women project their relationship issues onto her marriage. Every couple has heated moments, and the difference is that she and Eugene have opted to show their reality on the show.
She becomes emotional and acknowledges that she spoke to Eugene too harshly at their pool party. But not enough people in the group even checked on her or softly told her she was wrong, with the exception of Quad. When Mimi tries to say she attempted to, Toya calls her out for saying the moment was “cringey.”
Toya wants the group to stay out of her marriage. Jackie finds this to be hypocritical. She takes issue with Toya discussing the time Curtis pulled her into his lap by her waist when she was on WWHL. Regardless, Toya stands by her WWHL comments, and she says Curtis had no business trying to give Eugene marital advice.
The group thinks Toya did a great job with the Med Gala.
The Med Gala is brought up. Heavenly and Jackie acknowledge that Toya did an amazing job pulling it off. Toya takes out a custom lab coat that has all the Med Gala text messages printed all over it. Although Toya is grateful that the group praised her efforts, it was still an overwhelming experience.
Quad’s breakup with King is up next for discussion. Quad claps back at the accusation that she used the relationship to have a storyline on the show. She says she wouldn’t have spent all the money she did on her IVF process if her love for King wasn’t real. But their split was mutual, and she didn’t want him there since they are no longer together.
Toya and Simone still keep in touch with King. Eugene has become friends with him, so they are still in touch as well.
Contessa and Brandi discuss the tension they had over Brandi’s birthday party. Brandi didn’t appreciate the comments she feels Contessa made “under her breath.” Regardless, Contessa apologizes and says that she didn’t understand why people were discussing Scott’s failure to plan her a birthday party.
Mimi and Toya’s tension is brought up. Toya feels like Mimi has set her mind to having an issue because she aligned herself with Heavenly. Mimi disagrees and says she just doesn’t really know Toya yet. She apologizes for offending Toya with past comments.
Curtis and Steve call out Eugene.
Eugene and Steve clash backstage over the Med Gala tickets. Steve thinks Eugene and Toya made them pay for the tickets out of spite. Eugene asks why Steve even showed up when he said he was out in Jamaica.
Eugene says he is surprised that Steve is excusing bad behavior, and Steve’s rebuttal is that Eugene does the same with Toya all the time. The other husbands tell Steve he is out of line for bringing up Toya. Meanwhile, Curtis says that Eugene won’t ever admit to anything.
Heavenly discusses her son’s arrest. She says a mental health issue is behind the matter. She becomes emotional as she says she reached out to Mimi to get him help.
Heavenly didn’t want to put her family on blast, but the story was already out there.
Simone speaks at the end of the segment. She tells Heavenly that she doesn’t intend to put her family on blast when she shows her real life on the show.
Simone and Jackie’s friendship is the last topic for part 1 of the reunion. Jackie maintains that she holds both Heavenly and Simone accountable when they clash. Simone disagrees and states that Jackie knows how dangerous it was for Heavenly to accuse her of being violent. So at this point, Simone doesn’t see a way forward with Jackie.
