Teedra Moses is asking for fans to help her financially.

Singer Teedra Moses is one of the most underrated R&B artists in the game. Her debut album, Complex Simplicity dropped in 2004 and since then, we haven’t heard her on a track in awhile. But it sounds like she is back at it again, signing with Rick Ross’ Maybach Music Group. However, even though she has teamed up with “The Boss”, her money is a little funny at the moment. And she had no problem putting her pride aside to ask her fans for donations.
Moses started a Kickstarter campaign for her Luxurious Undergrind Documentary, according to Singersroom. Generous fans won’t walk away empty handed as they will receive thanks from the singer in the form of gifts and autographed cds.
For those who might be giving her the side eye for this, the money collected will go towards her traveling and lodging expenses for her upcoming performance at the 2012 Essence Music Festival in her hometown of New Orleans, Louisiana. Stepping back on the scene, she lets it be known that in the industry, your situation could be picture perfect yet your pockets could still be hurting:
“Many don’t realize that you can be in the right place at the right time but unless opportunity meets proper finances, things can fall apart,”
Is signing with Maybach Music Group going to solve her financial woes and re-jump start her career?
I cannot knock her hustle at all. The music industry is grimy and to have staying power, you have to have creative ways to market yourself and generate capital. Using Kickstarter to for financial backing is one creative thing to do and it helps connect to her fans.
Say what you want but Complex Simplicity is a classic. I wish she would have blown up because she’s got better material than most of the singers in the spotlight.
