It has been almost two years since Aaron McGruder’s The Boondocks third season ended much to the disappointment of the show’s fans. It was speculated that Aaron would be ending the television series after the third season ended however, this is not the case.

Adult Swim released a picture on their website indicating that the tv series had been renewed for a fourth season. Recently, Actress Regina King was questioned about the show possibly returning. Website reports,

Recall Sergio’s post in March, alerting you to a radio interview in which actress Regina King, the voice of both Huey and Riley Freeman on Aaron McGruder’s popular The Boondocks TV series, said that there was a possibility the show might be returning to television for another season.

Here’s what Ms King said back then: “I talked to Aaron and it looks like they’re working things out. I’m trying to be positive. But you know you say one thing and the next thing you know it just fell apart. But it looks strong like we’re coming back.”

It seems that Adult Swim and Aaron were in negotiations for a while and there was an apparent breakthrough.

Although possessing rather course language at times, The Boondocks is one of the most well written shows on Adult Swim and television in general. Hopefully, Adult Swim will release more details on the return of the show, in particular a date when Huey, Riley, Granddad and Uncle Ruckus will make their epic return.

Below is a classic clip from the show featuring Huey Freeman.

Let us know your thoughts on The Boondocks returning for a fourth season.

  1. I’m so happy to hear this! This is one of the only shows that speaks the truth about the black community and the state of America. We need this show on the air.
