As those who watched the 2012 BET Awards praised the network for the limited amount of ratchetness that went on, backstage was about to be a whole different story as things were on the verge of getting out of hand.
According to AllHipHop.com, sources claimed that Busta Rhymes was ready to kick Power 105.1 Breakfast Club host Charlamagne Tha God’s butt over some old beef, eight year old beef at that. The rapper reportedly got in the radio personality’s face, more than ready to put some hands on him. Not wanting to see the BET Awards turn into the Source Awards, the heated Busta Rhymes was restrained by manager James Cruz while Charlamagne was held back by music executive Bu Thaim, Akon’s right hand man and brother.
Supposedly Busta’s rage was over an interview that he and his baby mama did with Wendy Williams on the radio back in 2004. Thing is though, Charlamagne says he wasn’t even working with Williams at the time of the interview that Busta is referring to.
After everything simmered down, Vlad TV spoke with Charlamagne about Busta trying to fight him at the awards show and said that’s why certain people don’t get conversation from him until after hours:
“Arguing. Acting like we wanted to do something to each other but neither of us made a move. That’s why I don’t talk to n—-s after 5PM.”
Did Busta Rhymes really try to swing on Charlamagne over an eight year old beef that appears to have nothing to do with him?
Was this a pub stunt or is there more behind this backstage brawl that almost went down between the two?
Of course we knew Hot 97’s Peter Rosenberg would find humor in all this:
But Charlemagne wasn’t even the one who said anything, it was Wendy. SMH.
LOL this would have been EPIC had a fight actually happened. Charlamagne’s mouth is going to get him in some real trouble and probably get his azz kicked too,
