Karlie Redd and Benzino Not Engaged, The Two Dated Before LHHATL

Karlie Redd and Benzino being engaged became a question after Benzino was spotted getting what looked like an engagement ring for Karlie Redd on the last episode. It has been rumored by a number of sources that the Karlie Redd and Benzino romance has come to an end. Another one that surfaced about the Love and Hip Hop Atlanta cast members was that Benzino put Karlie Redd out of his house, a rumor that Benzino found quite ridiculous and shut down immediately after hearing it. People still couldn’t help but wonder if Karlie and Benzino’s relationship was scripted and if they were even really feeling each other like that because the couple was moving so fast from what was seen on the show, especially when Benzino handed over the key to his crib to her.

So did Karlie Redd and Benzino have something going on before the show ever aired?

In an interview he did with The Breakfast Club, Benzino sure made it appear that way as he assured viewers not to be deceived, Benzino and Karlie Redd didn’t just jump right into a relationship and start living together, it took some time:

“Before she got the key, it had probably be like two months…It was a couple of months before I gave her the key”

Benzino made it a point to also say that what him and Karlie had was a real relationship, further confirming that the two have gone their separate ways:

“We definitely had a real relationship, you know what I’m saying…When I say had it’s more less from like what you’ve seen, that was real”

The fact that Benzino and Karlie had been dating for awhile  before the show hints that they faked meeting each other for the first time on the show, making the meeting of theirs yet another scripted element of the show.

Benzino was asked about whether or not he thought Karlie Redd had talent. Stalling for a few minutes, he responded that he thought she did bring something to the table musically, even though he once blasted her for not having a drop of it:

“Karlie, you know what she does the Patois really good. She’s from Trinidad. You know she has a voice, you know what I’m saying. A lot of singing out here is auto-tuned up anyways…I think definitely producers can work with her. She let me hear a lot of her music and stuff…I believe she has talent”

And Benzino spoke about how Karlie Redd came at him for being “cold” and not being a talked about artist in the industry anymore, even though Benzino says that Love and Hip Hop Atlanta has made him relevant again and simply said:

“She’s real motivated by her career”

Charlamagne Tha God asking Benzino about Stevie J. being the Best Man at his wedding sparked a quick convo about marriage. And when Benzino was asked whether or not he walked down the aisle with Karlie, he responded:

“Gotta watch the show”

If there ever was an engagement between these two, that is probably no more  judging by Benzino’s comments in his interview. Benzino also talked about how he was ready to settle down; after all he is 47 years old now and tired of playing games, clearly not of the same mindset as his homebody Stevie J. Although Karlie Redd and Benzino are no longer together, Benzino has introduced her to his family, his children specifically. And Benzino’s talk of marriage made it appear that things between him and Karlie must had gotten more serious than we’d imagine they had ever gotten.
