Chad and Evelyn Wedding

Chad Johnson and Evelyn Lozada‘s potential financial windfall has gone down the tubes and managed to anger an entire country. Not only has Evelyn Lozada decided to file for divorce after her husband Chad Johnson head butted her and was arrested for domestic battery as a result, Vh1 cancelled the Labor Day premiere of their reality show chronicling their wedding ceremony. Not only has Chad and Evelyn lost millions, the country that hosted their wedding (St. Maarten) lost $90,000.

St. Maarten is not happy about losing their investment.

According to the St. Maarten newspaper Today, St. Maarten is going to seek repayment from Chad and Evelyn of their investment gone awry.

The two were wed on July 4 at Le Chateau des Palmiers and the entire nuptials was filmed for a new reality TV show on VH1 called Ev & Ocho. While filming took place here last month, every detail was veiled in secrecy. Only a select few were allowed to witness the proceedings and everyone had to sign a non-disclosure agreement, so that the couple could have exclusive rights to all of their images. They had planned to cash in big on the rite of passage. Members of the media were also asked to embargo all details surrounding the celebrities on the island until the show’s grand premier on September 3.

Now VH1 says that it has no choice but to shelve the project because of all of the negative publicity surrounding the couple’s split.

The airing of the show would have given St.Maarten additional publicity as a tourist destination but like all other business ventures was an investment with a risk that the government was well aware of, Finance Minister Roland Tuitt said on Wednesday.

“It’s like if you invest in a marketing program. It is a risk you take when you are in business and you are investing and if the risk happens then you have to deal with the consequences.”

The destruction of Chad Johnson’s brand and image continue to be destroyed as the fallout of his domestic battery arrest keeps moving forward.

  1. I don’t blame them. If they paid for it and it didn’t even last longer than a month, they deserve every penny back. Fair is fair.

  2. Ok. But I’m not sure why they even forked over the cash to begin with. Even a blind man could see this marriage wouldn’t last.

  3. LOL well damn. I guess they didn’t have a choice. The sad thing is Evelyn and Chad had so many things going on that revolved around their relationship, expect both to keep losing money from all of this.

  4. Should they really be suing Chad and Ev though? No one told them to bet $90,000 on a marriage that everyone and they momma knew wouldn’t last. They should have taken that money and instead actually put it into marketing the country.

  5. Why would they expect Chad and Evelyn to bring more awareness to their country anyway? They got married there and this is still the first time I have ever heard of the place. I think it was stupid for them to even have agreed to this.
