‘Chrissy & Mr. Jones’ Sparks Criticisms of Being Too Boring During First Episode

chrissy and mr jones first episode

After the success of Love And Hip Hop, many expected Chrissy Lampkin to return for the second season. But after she watched her portrayal on the television screen, Chrissy began to feel as if Mona Scott Young was deliberately attempting to savage her image for the sake of ratings. And although both agreed to sit and talk about it, Chrissy walked away from the series, and even took her husband to be Jim Jones with her. But all wasn’t lost for the budding reality television star. Despite her rocky relationship with Mona Scott Young, Chrissy and Jim Jones were able to land their own reality show on VH1. The show, entitled, Chrissy & Mr. Jones, would show the couple as they work on themselves and their upcoming nuptials. And through the previously released teaser and trailer of the show, it was made clear to Love And Hip Hop fans that although Chrissy has pressured Jim into proposing to her, she was beginning to have some doubts about marriage.

The show premiered last night, but many of my close friends and social network buddies totally forgot about the show. Instead, it seems like most of them were watching that controversial football game between the Packers and the Seahawks.

Curious about how the show did last night, I took to Twitter to see the reactions. And although there are some people who absolutely love the show so far, there are just as many who expressed that the show was boring, not very authentic, and not nearly as entertaining as they had hoped it would be.

Here are some of the tweets from people who probably won’t be tuning in next week:

  1. I really tried to watch the show last night, but I have to admit I just couldn’t really get into it. I think it’s because we’re all still trying to get over the end of Love And Hip Hop Atlanta. So anything else at this point would be boring to most people. I think it will catch on one people get used to LHHATL being gone.

  2. It was pretty bland. I can see where they tried to create some drama but I guess Chrissy has been gone too long for me to care about this show. And I mean gone too long in reality tv time frames.

  3. I thought it was cute. Was it super entertaining? No, but it’s another show about a couple and I think it’s not that bad. I like the opening. And I think it will be enough drama for people to keep watching. People need to give it a chance. At least Chrissy isn’t fighting and acting like a hood rat again. Maybe that’s why people are calling it boring. Smh.

    1. I’m going to have to agree with you. People act like violence is required for a reality TV show. But that’s really the exception and not the norm. I like the show and it’s kind of like TI & Tiny. I think both couples are cute in their own way, so I’ll be watching.

  4. The show isn’t bad, I’m just not a fan of the couple. I know we need more shows about black couples, but can we not find one that isn’t full of stereotypes? Both of them act like they are allergic to marriage (but have been together for like 15 years), and it’s hard for me to get past that.

  5. I was definitely watching the Packers/Seahawks game. And it was CRAZY. I totally forgot about this show. I’m sure it will do good enough to satisfy VH1. But I don’t think I’ll be watching. I honestly never got into the original Love & Hip Hop. So I don’t care to see Chrissy or Jim.

  6. I’m trying to understand why Chrissy is acting like she’s not sure about getting married when she practically begged this man to marry her on television. I’m lost.

  7. The show was blah. I turned it after awhile. I’m starting to believe that Chrissy can\’t have children. How are you gonna freeze eggs at 45? I’m leaning towards scripted too. I just think that black couples should speak out about their infertility issues, it’s pretty much normal these days.

  8. chrissy’s crying as always mama jones hott mess jim jones still cute just bring back love & hiphop atlanta , real housewives of atlanta and ppl will be happy again

  9. I have been expecting boring from this since she first verbalized her desire to have a show with just her and jim. I like Jim’s mom allot but I can’t sit through a whole season of Chrissy. I think she is full of it and phony. Your a violent bully and if you wanna do a show about working on that then I would be interested otherwise keep it moving.

  10. I can’t stand the fact that when people say a reality show is boring that means there isn’t enough violence. NO, the show is just boring. The best reality shows are watching people actually doing something not just living. I want to see someone run a business, prepare for the Olympics, participate in a pageant… SOMETHING! Not just have discussions about life and then going to dinner to discuss those discussions. This spinoff is an EPIC fail. I’d rather see Emily’s fashions for get this couple.

  11. Overalll the show wasn’t about nothing, Chrissy still wanting & needing a support system. Trick go find yourself. Emily is non-factor, can’t get that crying b-tch out my head. momma jones…ghetto!
