Chris Brown may have a large and dedicated fan base in Team Breezy, but that doesn’t mean that he doesn’t have just as many critics. The singer seemed to have it all as a young pop star a few years ago until he assaulted his then girlfriend Rihanna on the night of the Grammys. Chris has since then apologized and is currently on probation for the incident, but not even the many hours he’s spent doing community service will silence the extremist of his critics. Chris was anticipating having a concert in Guyana, however, protests may have hampered the singer from going thorough with his performance.
According to reports, the singer has canceled his concert as a result of the protests.
The NY Daily News reports:
GEORGETOWN, Guyana — Organizers say American R&B star Chris Brown has canceled a stadium concert in Guyana after local protests over his 2009 beating of then-girlfriend Rihanna.
Brown was billed to headline a Dec. 26 show. But he drew the ire of women’s rights groups and opposition lawmakers who said Brown would not be welcome in Guyana three years after his assault of Barbadian superstar Rihanna.Concert promoter Hits & Jams Entertainment said Thursday that Brown backed out, citing discomfort with the protests.
Despite the reports, Chris’ rep denies that the concert was cancelled as result of the protests. Instead, they tell E! News that the concert was never confirmed in the first place and the promoter “isn’t being truthful.”
This isn’t the first time a Chris Brown concert has been protested in another country. Just earlier this month, he was heavily protested in Sweden, as protestors used pictures of Rihanna’s battered face on posters to discourage attendance.
I can’t believe people are still protesting him…
Seriously?
And THIS is why he needs to be more humble on Twitter and in his interviews.
Not a fan but it’s crazy that he will never be able to move forward from what happened with Rihanna. I hope this teaches young men everywhere not to get caught up like this.
OMG! People really need to move the hell on! This happened years ago!!!
Agreed. Some people just need to get a life.
People don’t have to move on when he continues to be a d-ck.
#COSIGN!
#SHRUGS. I don’t feel bad for him. He’s still being an arrogant douche bag.
It’s hard for people to move on or think he’s changed when he’s wearing offensive Halloween costumes and then telling the people who were offended “F*ck you.” Just sayin.
This!!!!!
Welp…
Some of yall are so damn hateful to this child. This happened in like 2009. Move on. Let him be.
