Nicki Minaj, being the outspoken individual that she is, doesn’t hold much back or filters her comments about situations that upset her. Whether she is calling people out over their “racist” comments or dialing up radio stations, demanding that they not even think about playing her music ever again, Nicki lets it be known when she has a problem with what someone does or says, her ‘Idol’ beef with Mariah Carey being one of those instances. The Nicki Minaj Mariah Carey feud talk has yet to die down as the two divas have dished on what happened between them, Nicki letting her feelings about her beef with Mariah leak out onto one of her latest tracks. Before anything ever popped off, it was said that Mariah Carey wasn’t too happy about the fact that Nicki would be joining American Idol too as Mariah supposedly thought she would be the only female judge. Things went on as planned though with both artists appearing on the panel. And the rumors of their beef continued on too. Earlier on, Nicki and Mariah laughed off the rumors of the beef that they supposedly had going on with each other. But within a matter of weeks, it was definitely not a joking matter as the two were caught on camera tossing curse words at each other during a heated exchange. And in an interview that she did with The Kyle and Jackie O Show, Nicki says that her responding to people can get her negative attention at times, while she claims that she is not the one who starts most of the drama that she finds herself in:
“Absolutely, it gets a lot of attention when I fight back. But that’s the key phrase “Fight back”, meaning that someone started the fight with me. And that’s what always happens. But I want my fans and people who look up to me to stand up for themselves. And I’ve gotten so much of people who don’t know me from a can of paint, I’m talking about people in the industry. I don’t why they have such a problem with me. They always have to mention me and say something ridiculous and try to shoot me down. And it’s like these are people that I’ve looked up to for so long. I respect them. When I see them, I give them love and I honor them. So I guess what makes me react that way because it’s a bit hurt hurtful. And I kinda react that way because it’s like, almost like defending myself, defending my heart from being broken. And really I feel like now I don’t give two s—ts anymore. It’s like you know what, I’m gonna say whatever I wanna say. You guys can constantly say what you want to about Nicki Minaj, then I’m gonna say what I feel about you. And you’re not gonna like it when I say it.”
Even though Nicki has thrown her shots at Mariah over the situation, the rapper admitted that the situation really did hurt her feelings:
“I was really offended by the Mariah Carey situation, knowing that she didn’t want me to be on the show.”
And Nicki said that Mariah wasn’t upset over her specifically joining the panel, she didn’t want another female up there with her period:
“She didn’t specify me, she just didn’t want to have another woman on the show. But then I was like when I got there, you could kind of feel it in the air and I was like ‘Oh my goodness, I love this woman! What’s going on?’
Nicki adds that even though her and Mariah had their live fall out on the show, she still has love for her and wishes things didn’t go down the way that they did:
“It’s weird, because even when they do these things, it’s like I still love them, like I still go back to myself being a teenager or being a young kid admiring these people and I never hate them, I’m always like, I just wish it didn’t have to be this way.”
Nicki went on to say that she is still a big fan of Mariah’s music despite their spat.
Check out Nicki’s interview below:
Well she gets no sympathy from me! She came into the industry by creating this huge division between her and all the other female rappers before her by insulting them in her songs. Then there’s that beef with Kim, it turned off A LOT of people off in the industry because Kim is cool with a lot of people. Then she’s always trying to play the victim like she did the other day with Steven Tyler. You get out what you put out and now i’m sure people don’t want to deal with her.
Thank you!
Well if her attitude wasn’t so stank people would like her more. But look how she talks to people and starts these unnecessary beefs. She should have come into the game more humble, instead of popping off to legends.
Of course they are against you, you ruined rap! You and the rest of Dumb Money!
*Cues the violins*
Hate all you want yall but she is telling the truth. People like to pick on Nicki just because she went pop and she doesn’t make the kind of music they think she should make. But why should she? It’s not like they will buy the album if she does. Yall know the young teeny boppy age group is the ones that buy the albums, so why be mad at her for targeting the people who will buy her album?
Truth! Thank you!
LOL girl please. She plays the victim card on a regular basis I see. Lame.
LMAO so the Pity Party continues! Chick gets low album sales and it’s everyone else’s fault but her. And now it’s the people in the business fault that she’s not liked. Classic Nicki Minaj.
I’m really waiting for this girl to just go away already. She’s so annoying. People don’t like her because she’s overrated. her music sucks, and on top of that she’s rude. I wish she would just retire the victim card.
LMAO!!!! I needed this laugh. You have to love how delusional Nicki is.
Hey Nicki, this won’t help those album sales.
She brought all of this on herself. But I’m not surprised that she doesn’t see it that way. Typical.
When I see her talking with white people she’s all calm and respectful but it seems when she’s doing interviews with black radio shows and such she is just RUDE. I don’t like.
