Outkast fans have been hoping they could get another studio album from the legendary rap group for years. Technically, the two haven’t recorded an album together since Idlewild, and that was merely a soundtrack for their movie and featured very little tracks with both Big Boi and Andre 3000 spitting rap verses together. Then there’s the album before that, Speakerboxxx/The Love Below that was basically two solo albums in one, as once again, the rap group preferred to do their own thing versus classically hooking up and spitting bars as a group. Although there have been rumors that another album could be in the works, it appears that Andre 3000 continues to shut down the possibility by pretty much saying he’s isn’t really feeling it in his interviews. Meanwhile, Big Boi seems to still be down for the cause, but is now putting out music as a solo artist in the meantime.

Interestingly enough, Bog Boi did suggest recently that Andre 3000 isn’t just bossy about Outkast, but he’s also a little on the bossy side when it comes to Big Boi as a solo artist. Big Boi claimed Andre 3000 does not like for him to rap on other people’s tracks and usually does the guest verses himself on behalf of the group. And he’s even more opposed to both he and Big Boi rapping on the same tracks of any other artists’ albums. Andre 3000’s reasoning is he doesn’t want to give people another Outkast album without it being an official Outkast album, but the group’s fans feel it’s pretty cold and very selfish for Andre 3000 to tell Big Boi what tracks he can make appearances on.

Despite all of this, Big Boi claims he has no beef with Andre 3000, but it appears Andre 3000 isn’t too happy that his partner made an appearance on recent tracks from T.I. (Sorry) and Frank Ocean (Pink Matter), both being tracks that Andre 3000 appeared on originally.

Apparently Andre 3000 is irritated that Big Boi added his verse to tracks that Andre 3000 had already lended his to. So he’s issued out a statement, reminding people that these tracks are nothing but remixes, and he did not cosign on Big Boi doing the verses. He also wanted to remind fans that these remixes do not serve as an Outkast reunion of any kind.

In a statement released to Spin Magazine exclusively, he says:

“It’s important for me to be clear about the origins of my contributions to ‘Pink Matter’ and ‘Sorry.’

“I was approached as a solo artist by both Frank Ocean & Tip. I discussed musical direction with each artist and completed my verses. It was after that when Big Boi’s name came up.

“I never want to mislead our audience – I worried that some would think these were Outkast collaborations. These songs are not Outkast collaborations. I discussed this rationale with Big, Frank and T.I. and everyone agreed. That is why I was surprised to read about these remixes.

“I understand that anyone can put out an unofficial remix to any song but I have an obligation to be honest with fans about what this is … and what it isn’t.”

  1. SMH. He sounds like a selfish jerk in this statement. Why is he so controlling and why the hell does he think he is Outkast?! He’s one half of Outkast, not the whole damn group.

  2. And this is what happens when people start to feel themselves too much. I wanted another Outkast album, but now I think I’m over it. I feel bad for Big Boi tho. He can’t jump on tracks with the hottest artists because Andre 3000 feels the need to c-ckblock him all the time.

  3. Really 3 Stacks? So he can’t get on T.I. or Frank Ocean tracks without you being salty? I can’t anymore with this dude.

  4. It’s obvious now that 3 Stacks thinks he makes the group and that he’s the better rapper. He’s too arrogant to understand why anyone would want Big Boi on the track when they can have him. He needs to humble himself before he goes down in history for destroying one of the greatest rap groups of all time.

  5. This is ridiculous. I really wish Andre 3000 would get over himself and just be honest and say he doesn’t want to do another album anymore. He really needs to let Big Boi do his thing.

  6. I really don’t think that Andre 3000 is being wrong at all. If they are on the track together, he doesnt want people to get it twisted. Him and Big Boi have 2 different visions and directions with their lives now. That tends to happen with groups eventually. He just wants to make sure that people don’t think its a reunion. I hope they both have a great career, with or without each other.

  7. Now this right here was unnecessary. I can’t wait to hear/see Big Boi’s response to this. There’s a way to be honest with the fans and still be respectful to your group member, and I think Big Boi has done a great job of doing so. Something tells me that’s about to stop after this tho…..
