Beyonce is set to have a big year and she is already with yet another scandal that appears to be nothing more than a fabrication from the press. The R&B singer and international superstar is posed to release her fifth studio album this year, a documentary on HBO, as well as rock the stage as the headline act for this year’s Super Bowl halftime show. Beyonce is also proving why she and her husband Jay-Z were easily labeled as Forbes Most Powerful Celebrity Couple in 2012 after inking yet another multimillion dollar deal with Pepsi. So it’s clear that being a new mom hasn’t slowed down the star much.
However, a recent scandal involving her performance at President Obama’s second Inauguration ceremony may pose quite the dilemma for the singer.
Originally it was speculated by the London Times that they thought it was highly possible that Beyonce lip synced at the Inauguration. Since we live in an age where the media will run with anything because scandals equal more page views in an Internet driven world, the story spread like wild-fire, and certain tabloid publications took a quote from someone in the Marines as the gospel and even twisted it.
Now a spokesperson for the Marines claims that Beyonce did in fact record a prerecorded track of her performance, but it was the band’s part of the song that was not live. The Marines apparently did not want to play live due to the cold weather, and it was confirmed that Beyonce sang over the pre-recorded track.
The Wall Street Journal even confirmed with video that the singer sang live, and claims the microphone feedback was clear enough in the footage they obtained that there should be no doubt that Beyonce did not lip sync.
Of course, most media organizations won’t run with the new information and that’s surely because in the media, we’re quick to judge but slower to correct ourselves.
Either way, here’s the video (from the Wall Street Journal) that proves Beyonce did not lip sync, but actually sang along to the track. Her live voice was heard loud and clear.
In related news, interestingly enough, more quotes from Beyonce’s interview with GQ are making rounds on the Internet. In the latest quotes, Beyonce finally addresses how she feels about malicious rumors that are created about her on a regular basis. In particular, she admits she found the one about her faking her pregnancy silly.
She says:
“I felt like I kind of had to protect my mother, because when people made up the silliest rumor about me not really being pregnant. She was there when I went through all of those things. And my sister. They were very, very defensive. It’s not personal to me, and it comes along with the job, but the lack of respect—people will just go too far sometimes.”
Could this current Lip Sync situation be proof that people do take things too far? Well, considering that the controversy made more headlines than a Texas school shooting, Beyonce may have a point.
I honestly do not care anymore. It was just one song. Sheesh. People were murdered that day in Houston yet the main story on major news outlets and blogs was whether or not Beyonce Lip Sync’d the national anthem?
Sigh…
Agreed.

Beyonce looked absolutely fab at the Inauguration. She even had Good ol’ Bill Clinton checkin out the beyhind. Either way, Bey will always be hated on no matter what she does.
Beyonce just irks me. She just doesn’t seem authentic and just fabricated.
You mean she intimidates you? Of course she does.
LOL!!! She doesn’t intimidate me in the least bit. I would like her more if she just seemed more vulnerable and I don’t know, human.
What’s human? Being ratchet on Instagram like Rihanna? She is very human. She makes mistakes and has problems in front of the whole world. You just wish she was f-cked up. Not everyone in the world is f-cked up and controversial.
Girl bye! You and those other bey stans irk me. I don’t want her to be stank like Rihanna. Maybe if you had any sense, you would realize that Beyonce never shows anything to the public that isn’t perfect. Even with Michelle Obama, we know that she is human. For crying out loud, her and the president have a relationship far from perfect yet she is still admired. All the while Beyonce micromanages every little detail that is public about her.
It’s like the woman is scared to show any kind of personality to the world.
I agree that I would prefer for her to share a little more, but look at what people do when you do share? If people ripped apart every aspect of your life that they had available wouldn’t you hide what you could to protect your friends and family? That’s what makes her human to me. I’m sure you know plenty of people that don’t share their business with everyone, Beyonce just happens to be doing it while she is famous.
Yeah she was clearly singing in the video. Shame on the media and the gullible people who needed to believe this to feel better about themselves.
Yeah, she sang live. Doesn’t matter though because people will believe what they want to. But Bey has enough fans that she will be okay. I know I’m going to support her still so…who cares?! BeyHive!
Haters gonna hate! I’m past this and I’m sure Bey is too.
I heard an echo but I couldn’t really tell.
Saw the performance live and just found it hard to believe she lip sync. But I heard some echoes and I could hear her in this video. She really did sing over the track. But it’s time to move on.
