Mary J. Blige hasn’t skipped a beat when it comes to her career. And throughout it, the R&B singer has done way more than just put down songs in the studio with other artists as she has starred in movies and commercials, and she remains to be one of the best to ever do it when it comes to cranking out the hits. While Mary J. Blige’s musical resume is on point, her financial status has seen better days as it has been said that the singer has run into some more money trouble as she was hit with a lawsuit over allegedly defaulting on a bank loan that she took out for her charity organization. Even with the talk about her financial situation not being the greatest as of now, Mary J. Blige is still doing big things as she is featured on the cover of the February/March 2013 issue of Vibe Magazine. In the interview that she did with the publication, Mary spoke on how she feels about the current state of R&B and she gave props to Rihanna, something that not many people seem to be doing these days,  for the things that she is doing and Mary compliments the pop star on her looks as well:

“What is going on? What is this? Things got worse before they got better. I think things are going in the right direction. I am so proud of what Rihanna is doing. She is speaking to her generation, and she’s living her life in front of them. I don’t even think she’s purposely doing it. She’s such a beautiful girl, and I don’t think she knows she’s that beautiful.”

Mary J. Blige, along with some other artists in the entertainment industry have shown their support for Rihanna and the relationship that she has with Chris Brown. And as for Mary, she herself has had a rocky relationship of her own as she dated Singer K-Ci from the popular ’90’s group Jodeci back in the day. But the ways she sees it though, if Rihanna is not on the verge of offing herself and she is content with everything, then that’s all that really matters:

“They give her a hard time because she’s living her life. As long as she’s having fun and isn’t three minutes away from wanting to shoot herself, good! I want her to be happy.”

And as for all the negativity that the social media networks are drenched in, Mary has a message for those folks who have too much time on their hands and who constantly have bad things to say:

“Get a life! People take so much time and energy hurting other people. Social media is full of hate mail. And you’re like, ‘Wow, this is how you spend your day?’ No wonder the world is messed up. The only difference between you and that other person is their perspective on life. If you say you don’t have anything, you won’t have anything. The tongue is a serious weapon. You can use if for good. You can use it for bad.”

  1. She’s right about how people act on the internet, it’s very disgusting to read some of these comments on the blogs.

  2. Is it like a requirement now for everyone to talk about Chris & Rihanna in their interviews? I’s getting tiresome!

  3. Yes Mary! She looks great. No comment on her Rihanna comments. I agree with the online bullying thing. People take things too far. State your opinion and keep it moving!

  4. Speaking truth like always when she talked about the hate on the Internet. It’s nothing wrong with giving your opinions but a lot of people can’t seem to separate being critical from being hateful.

  5. WTH? What…she wants a duet with her or something? What’s the point of running this into the ground and what does she have to do with them being together or not? She was one of the main ones downing brown and didn’t want to work with him in her video but took the song he wrote (Stronger) for her album. What a hypocrite. Now that they are back together it’s all good? With her tumultuous background with an abusive ex, this is what she has to say to young girls? People are ridiculous and she’s an idiot.
