Kandi Burruss might currently enjoying the perks of being a reality star, but the former Xscape singer and talented song writer is still adding on to her impeccable resume and creating new opportunities for herself in business and music. Kandi released a new gospel song entitled “Stay Prayed Up” with Marvin Sapp. Unfortunately for Kandi, her business venture of selling ” freaky bedroom accessories” has somehow made her unsuitable to recording gospel music according to her critics. Kandi is using Real Housewives of Atlanta as a platform to promote the new song, but as to be expected, people have been reaching out to her and Marvin Sapp and expressing their anger that she is tapping into the Gospel industry.
Kandi, who’s known for having pretty tough skin, made it clear though recently on her Facebook account that she knew the song would be met by some opposition from some people who don’t feel she’s Christian enough to sing gospel.
She writes:
“I knew when I decided to do it that I would be criticized. That’s to be expected. I’m a single mom that had a child out of wedlock, I speak openly about sex on #KandiKoatedNights, I have #BedroomKandi, etc… I’m very honest about who I am. My great grand father & my grandfather were Bishops in The Church of God Holiness. I believe in God but I have always struggled with the rules of the church, just like a lot of people. The song “Stay Prayed Up” is like a testimony for me. Hopefully people with a similar struggle can relate.”
Kandi also tweeted that she expected that there would be people who would be too judgmental to get the message of the song:
Despite the criticism, Kandi’s new gospel song is number one on the Gospel section of iTunes:
Congrats to Kandi.
If you haven’t heard the song, check it out below:
I actually love the song. 😉
Kandi’s voice bothers me. Nice song though.
Cosign. I will be downloading this from iTunes even though I don’t really care for her voice.
It’s amazing how judgmental some Christians can be when it says specifically in the Bible NOT to judge. lol
The song is actually pretty good. I was pleasantly surprised.
Dope! I love it!
But she says she’s a sinner in the song, so what’s the problem? Smh. I like it tho.
She is just a performer singing a song like most of the gospel singers out there. They are musicians first gospel is a gig.
That picture look funny to me
