Kandi Burruss not attending the So So Def reunion concert was news that fans of the former ’90’s girl group Xscape were not trying to hear as many of them were excited about the idea of Kandi, Tiny, LaTocha and Tamika performing some of their throwback hits on stage together. As a number of fans of the group were not pleased to learn that Kandi would not be attending the reunion concert, So So Def alum Bow Wow wasn’t feeling it either as he went after Kandi for not being a no show at the concert that the label’s CEO Jermaine Dupri put together. Rolling Out captured some comments from Kandi Burruss as she stopped by V-103 in Atlanta, Georgia to promote her late night talk show “Kandi Koated Nights” this past Wednesday and she also explained why she chose not to participate in the So So Def reunion concert. When radio host Big Tigga asked Kandi about where she stands with her former group mates and whether or not she would be willing to link back up with them to do some songs, Kandi said:
“I don’t think it’s just an issue with me and Tocha [Scott], it’s the whole group. I don’t really wanna have that conversation right now, I don’t wanna feel like ‘Oh we’re talking because you want me to do something this week.’ Like if you really wanna fix the situation or have a real conversation then, ok.”
And when Kandi was asked if she would be surprising everyone by making an appearance at the So So Def reunion show, she responding by saying that she already had plans to be somewhere else:
“I have a prior engagement. I ‘m heading to Baton Rouge, [La.]. I have to speak at a college. No, I will not be running back, I’m sorry. They don’t need me for the show, they’ve done the show without me before.”
Kandi and LaTocha Scott must not see things the same way as LaTocha previously spoke before about wanting to reunite with the other group members, saying that she didn’t know why Kandi is so opposed to getting back together with the group in the studio. Tiny was also a no show for the reunion concert and is one former member that Kandi still maintains a close friendship with.
Apparently Tiny didn’t show up either. I’m assuming the unresolved issues of between all of them is the real reason why Kandi and Tiny didn’t show up. It would have been great if they would have all put the drama to the side and performed. Oh well.
They could have all put their issues to the side and performed for their fans. It’s all very petty to me.
Kandi wasn’t there because she didn’t want to be there…she should have never started sleeping around with J.D.
I wish she would have showed up. Tiny too. I used to love me some Xscape.
Obviously it wasn’t that petty. We are on the outside looking in so perhaps it was for the best. I wonder why KB is the only one being criticized for not doing the show. Tiny didn’t go. Perhaps Bow wow over looked that. Damn I wonder why????!! Sleeping with Jermaine, her past, their business.
