Kanye West has made headlines on numerous occasions not for his music, but the his many on stage rants. The rapper and producer is known not to have any problems speaking his mind and he has done so in such controversial ways that people now associate him with rants and rudeness. There’s still a large number of people who still haven’t gotten past the epic way he interrupted Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech, not to mention those comments he made about former president George W. Bush not caring about black people in the midst of Hurricane Katrina. His more recent rants include one against his own friends Jay-Z and Beyonce, and he even called up New York radio station Hot 97.5 the other day to complain about landing the number seven spot on MTV’s Hottest MC List in which he blamed it on his relationship with Kim Kardashian and interesting fashion choices.

But not everyone hates Kanye’s rants. There are some people who do like that Kanye has no problems speaking his mind and one of those people happens to be singer Bruno Mars.

In a recent interview with Capital FM, the singer claimed that he respects that Kanye speaks his truth even when it makes people uncomfortable and turns them off to potentially buying his music.

Bruno Mars says:

“I don’t think you can be mad at a guy that speaks his opinion – whether you disagree with it or not. It’s hard being in the spotlight, you’re doing interviews and shows, and you want to just be politically correct so people like you and buy your albums. It takes a lot for someone to be honest in these kind of situations.

“That is what Kanye West is. He is going to speak his mind, you might not agree with everything that he says, but you know what the guy’s telling it like it is in his mind. You can’t be mad at that.”

Bruno also says that people shouldn’t let Kanye’s views keep them from supporting his music:

“At the end of the day, for me it’s about his music. I think he’s one of the best. I think his albums are incredible and he’s pushing the bar [with] every album. My album’s called ‘Unorthodox Jukebox’, listen to his albums – his albums are more than hip-hop. You can get caught up in whatever he’s saying or stuff, or you can just be a fan of his music.”

Do you agree with Bruno Mars? Does he make a good point or is it totally acceptable to stop supporting an artist because they rant about things you don’t agree with?

  1. It’s not about WHAT he says or rants about. It’s that he does it so much that he sounds like a self-entitled jerk. That turns people off. Myself included.

  2. I get what Bruno is saying but he has to understand that if you only want to be judged just for your music, you need to keep your business off the streets. Look at the legends like Prince (who Kanye wants to be at times). Prince is so private that it forces you to just focus on his music. Kanye is not private at all! He was just getting freaky with Kim on that magazine cover. As a result, people know too much and they judge him accordingly.

    1. Exactly. Kanye brings it on himself. We don’t have to know everything he’s thinking or feeling. Just make the damn music! LOL.

  3. He’s right! I love Kanye. He’s flawed and I don’t always agree with what he says but he’s always honest! You have to respect that about him.

  4. I love Kanye West. Most people that hate him are butthurt racist hillbilly’s that are still holding a grudge from years ago when he interrupted a so called innocent white girl Taylor Swift. If Kanye had interrupted another black singer or if a white singer/Charlie Sheen interrupted Taylor Swift the media would of made light of the situation and even laughed about it. There are some blacks that hate Kanye West too but those are the ones that like to drag other successful blacks down to begin with. Bruno Mars keeps it real. Kanye Your epic and people that know and love real and unique music knows that. You dont need people that are racially motivated to hate you for no good reason as fans. Your real fans from around the world will always support your music 🙂
