Comedian Kevin Hart might be doing some big things in his comedic career, but he surely hasn’t been without controversy during his rise to the top. Although Kevin has a lot of fans in black women, he did cause quite a bit of anger when he made some unflattering jokes about dark-skinned women on his Twitter account. Things got ugly quickly when the comedian tweeted:
“Light-skinned women usually have better credit than dark-skinned women….Broke a*s dark hoes….lol”
Kevin insists he was just making a joke and has love for black women of all shades and skin tones, however, some people still aren’t buying it because they feel the tweet was just too insensitive to be just for humor. Interestingly enough, Kevin did say in his recent interview with Ebony Magazine that he realizes that he can’t make jokes ever about gays:
“The repercussions for saying certain words are harsh, and careers have been shut down. I can understand how people could be affected by certain words and slurs. I get it. My way of showing respect is to not play around with it, not mention it, not joke with it at all. I understand how serious it is.”
However, Kevin isn’t as careful or apologetic when it comes to the jokes made against black women. And he says that’s because he is a dark-skinned black man, so he should be able to make a joke about his own:
“People are stupid. This is something so minute. If you are a Kevin Hart fan, you know exactly what I talk about and how I talk… Last time I checked, I’m as black as a doggone oil can. How can I be racist against what I am? Women, y’all just go off the deep end. Y’all kill me with this whole light skin/dark skin thing… Kevin talks about everybody. Nobody is left off-limits… ”
“Nobody is left off-limits… ” – Except gay people. Ok. Gotcha.

This is sad. I knew there was a reason why I never liked him.
It’s interesting how he says he doesn’t want gays to ruin his career so he won’t joke on them but then says black women need to STFU and get over themselves. I guess he doesn’t think we can ruin his career too. He might need to go visit Wesley Snipes in prison and asked him how things turned out for him after he tried black women in that JET article.

The truth is Kevin’s ex wife is a dark skinned woman. He cheated, things got ugly, they divorced and now he has some kind of built up resentment for dark skinned women. His current GF is light. I don’t think that’s a coincidence…
Self hatred at its finest! Of course he won’t talk about the LGBT community because he knows they have the power to break his a$$ and would, just as he said! Light skin/dark skin has always been and probably always will be an issue within the black community stemming from slavery, but where does the respect of our people begin, especially the respect of our women, no matter her color, from our own men! Why be disrespectful to a group of women and feel it is ok because you are a dark skinned man?! The fact that he is such a dark skin man and made such a comment kinda shows he feels some type of way about the skin he’s in.
He says this because he knows that no matter what he says, his black fans aren’t going anywhere. And he’s right. The Wesley Snipes thing happened a long time ago when blacks cared about their race. Now we don’t. Look at grimlin a-s looking Lil Wayne rapping about Emmett Till and he still has black fans. Damn shame.
