Magic Johnson is without a doubt a legend when it comes to the game of basketball. And aside from the things that he did on the court, Magic Johnson is just as nice when it comes to his business skills as the former ball player has invested his money well as he started up Magic Johnson Enterprises, a company that includes national franchises from movie theaters, fitness centers, restaurants and more. But back in the year 1991, the former NBA star’s life changed forever as he announced to the world during a press conference the shocking news that he had contracted HIV. Being the person that he is though, Magic Johnson didn’t let his contracting of the virus keep his spirits down nor did he shy away from openly talking about it to people, Magic and his wife Cookie Johnson both being HIV prevention and awareness activists who make it their mission to inform people about the virus. And when it comes to his son Earvin “E.J.” Johnson III’s sexual preference, Magic is not afraid of speaking about that either as Magic’s Johnson’s son has gone public with his relationship with another man, E.J. seen out holding hands with his boyfriend on Sunset Strip.

As for how Magic and Cookie Johnson feel about their son’s decision to go public with his relationship, Magic tells TMZ that him and wife are proud of E.J. and are extremely supportive of him:

“Cookie and I love EJ and support him in every way. We’re very proud of him.”

And E.J. is just as supportive of his parents as the website caught up with E.J. and his boyfriend and they asked the 20-year-old NYU student about the fate of the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team that his dad now owns and he says that he is “hoping and praying” for them to do well, E.J. adding that he doesn’t know about his dad’s former team the Los Angeles Lakers as he heard they have a lot of work to do.

  1. That its how it suposed to be parents, should support and love their children no matter what…:)

  2. That’s great Magic supports his son. But this is going to take some getting use to seeing two men holding hands. SMH

  3. Thanks for posting this ladies! Coming out and having my parents support me anyway really encouraged me to be myself. Not that I needed permission to do so, but sadly this is not the case for everyone coming out. I salute Magic!
