Rapper ASAP Rocky may be enjoying all the buzz he’s getting as a newer rapper on the Hip Hop scene, but as of late, the rapper has been making more headlines for what he’s been saying in his interviews more so than his music. As we reported recently, ASAP came under fire when he suggested in an interview with The Coveteur that only women with “fairer” skin complexions could pull of red lipstick, a comment many felt was disrespectful to black women. Here’s the comment that caused the controversy:
“I like red lips, it’s fine. I’m going to be real, though: it’s bad for making out, because it gets on the guys. But for real, for me, I feel like with the red lipstick thing it all depends on the pair of complexion. I’m just being for real. You have to be fair skinned to get away with that. Just like if you were to wear like—f*cking for instance, what do dark skin girls have that you know fair skinned girls cant do… Purple lipstick? Naw, that looks stupid on all girls! Purple lipstick, guys! Like, what the f*ck…”
Up and coming female rapper Azealia Banks wasn’t too happy with ASAP’s comments. Especially since she’s notoriously known for rocking purple lipstick and is another brown girl who isn’t going to let society tell her what shade of lipstick she can wear. Azealia has always been outspoken on her Twitter account, so it’s no shocker that she dragged ASAP on there the other day for his thoughts on lipstick. She tweets (read from top to bottom):
She shouldnt have even commented. I mean who is ASAP in the music industry? I didn’t even take his comments that seriously. He isn’t worth it.

They grew up with each other…. So she knew he was talking about her. & long story short Rocky’s a bumba-s scene kid from NY from the shelter system anddddddddddd stoles bari’s clothing. Instead of talking sh-t about dark-skinned girls. Maybe he should talk about the dirt he did in Harlem.
