Zoe Saldana Says She Doesn’t Need a Man

Zoe Saldana has continued to see much success when it comes to her acting career, post taking on her role in the hit movie Avatar and kicking much butt in the film Colombiana. Yet while the roles keep coming in for the actress, things got a bit rocky for Zoe Saldana after it was discovered that she would be taking on the role as Nina Simone in the upcoming biopic that she was set to star in. Once people heard the news, the outrage surfaced as some felt that Zoe wasn’t a good fit for the role because of her outward appearance didn’t match up with Nina’s. Zoe spoke about the heavy criticism that she received over her new role in the biopic for the legendary singer for people felt that she was too fair skinned to take on the role successfully and do it justice.

In her interview that she did with Latina Magazine in the May issue of the publication, Zoe touched again on the backlash that she got over her biopic role and revealed her feelings about dating and men, the actress reported to have split from her boyfriend Actor Bradley Cooper again. And when it comes to men, Zoe says that she doesn’t want to be the type of woman that needs a man in her life but rather be one who wants a man as she feels being with a man should be a want and not a necessity:

“I don’t want to need things. I need water, you know what I’m saying? I need to exercise, I need to eat. To be with a man, should be a want. I don’t need anybody. And the people that I do need are just family, tu entiendes? But a man is something that I want, I want be with a partner, because this partner is going to add or I’m going to add to this partner.”

In reference to break ups, Zoe adds that she allows herself to feel the heartbreak but tends to recovery fairly easily from them.
