As we recently reported, DMX’s recent appearance on Iyanla: Fix My Life was an explosive one. The rapper agreed to do the show in an attempt to salvage his relationship with his kids, but instead things didn’t really get resolved since DMX turned down his son Xavier’s request to give up drugs in exchange for a relationship. DMX said through a publicist after the show that he doesn’t feel Iyanla fixed his life, but actually made things worse. In particular, the rapper isn’t happy about how he looked on the show and feels Iyanla just made him look like nothing more than a drug addict. Well it looks like DMX isn’t the only one who has something to say about the episode. His son Xavier had an interview the other day and opened up about how things are since making the appearance on the show. When asked if he agrees that the show made things worse for DMX, Xavier tells DoloBeats.com:
“The older I’ve gotten, I’ve learned to see him as a person. I’m starting to see now he loves to play the victim role. At first, I don’t know if you guys caught on to this, he thought the show was going to be all about him. But when they started tackling the tough questions, he got on defense and just started flipping out. Just like this, it’s the same thing. You know, Iyanla did not make his life worse, he did that.”
On how his relationship is with his father now, he says:
“I feel it’s done. I mean, he would have to show me 100%. He’d have to move a mountain. A miracle. Just a complete turnaround, otherwise I’m not doing it.”
Xavier also admitted that he almost gave in to his father when DMX told him that he should still have a relationship with him despite his drug use because he’s not giving up the drugs:
“I almost gave in and gave him that hug. But I’m glad that Iyanla stepped in and said, ‘No, you don’t get that. This is about him and you just can’t ask for what you want. There’s no more bullying here.’ I almost caved. I’m glad I didn’t because that would have been, ‘Ok, I’m fine with that, you not wanting to get clean to have a relationship with me.’ I’m not. I was mad, I was upset about that. It hurts, I would love to have a relationship with him. I’m like him in a lot of ways.”

DMX is not ready for help he still not taking responsibility for his actions. His son is very mature. He could learn a lot from his son.

I’m glad he stood up to his dad. DMX won’t get help until he wants to. You can’t force an addict to change if that’s not what they want to do.
I hope everything works out for this family. I really do. It was hard watching DMX like that.
He seems to have it all together. I hope one day he and his father can work out their issues and DMX can get clean.
Iyanla handled this particular case incorrectly and DMX’s son chose the wrong tack… Ultimatums, intimidation and manipulation simply do not work for on people. She of all people should know this particularly the way that the situation with she and Oprah went down.
I don’t like the way Iyana handled that situation either! In my opinion this should have been handled away from the cameras,but hey they all used each other to a degree. Xavier just wanted his song to be heard!
