Magic Johnson Says Kobe Bryant is the Closest Thing to Michael Jordan

Michael Jordan is considered the greatest basketball player of all time to most. However, when one tries to label one of today’s biggest NBA stars as the next Jordan, it always causes a huge debate among sports enthusiasts. In particular, many feel the closest stars to Jordan at this point in today’s sport would have to be between Kobe Bryant and LeBron James. It’s clear not everyone will be able to see eye to eye on the subject, but both NBA stars are working hard to establish their own legacies on the court, and both welcome being compared to the greatest of all time. However, in Magic Johnson’s opinion, Kobe is the closest thing to Jordan in today’s NBA. The basketball legend and successful business man tweeted the following to Lakers fans the other day:

“I played against Larry & Michael who both had a warrior’s mentality. For the last 17 seasons I’ve watched Kobe play with that same mentality!Laker Nation: Kobe is the closest thing to Michael Jordan that I have ever seen.Kobe Bryant has played through pain & injury so the @Lakers could have a chance to make the playoffs. He has always put his all on the line for the team & the fans.Laker Nation: I must tell you that I wasn’t happy that Kobe had to play 48 mins, I understand why, but I didn’t like it.Laker Nation: Kobe Bryant will definitely comeback from this injury because that’s just who he is! Laker Nation: Now let’s see if Gasol and Howard can lead the Lakers to the playoffs.”
