K. Michelle has already confirmed that she’s walking away from Love and Hip Hop Atlanta after season two, and it looks like she won’t be missed too much by fans considering that she already has a new show lined up on VH1. The singer also has a new album set to drop this year, and she’s already made it clear through her sold out shows that no matter how out of control she can be on TV and on her Twitter account, she’s still respected when it comes to her musical talents. In a recent interview with OK! Magazine, K. Michelle opens up about her true feelings on the other ladies on LHHATL, what she thinks it takes for her to win in music, and what she’s willing to do to make sure her music career will be a success.
On how she feels about the other women on the show:
“I like the other women. I think that’s the most politically thing for me to say trying to take this new leaf. Ariane, I think that’s the one I’m really the closest with and can get along with the most. I do like Erica, Joseline is hilarious. But do I see any of these women being in my wedding? I’m moving to New York in a couple of weeks…do I see any of these women…really keeping in touch with them? No.”
K. Michelle also says although she does question some of her behavior on the show, she doesn’t regret a thing:
“You do look back on a lot of the other episodes and say, ‘Oh why did I do that?’ But at the same time, it’s still who you are. And you felt like that. And that was that emotion you felt at that time. And it doesn’t make you say, ‘I wish it never happened.’ It makes you question and say, ‘Why did I feel that emotion at that time?’ And what were you thinking to make you bring on that emotion? So it’s not that I regret it and wish that it didn’t happen. You know, it just makes you dig deeper into how and why it happened.”
K. Michelle recently inked a new record deal with Warner Bros. and with a new album on the way, she explains what she’s doing to make sure she succeeds now with her music:
“I sing about everything that i go through in life. My mentor is Mr. R. Kelly. He always told me to write life and not music and you’ll always have a job.
“The men in the business, they can try to be very dominant. But what I can say for me, I play a lot of roles and I put on a lot of faces. I really don’t let the men in the business conduct my business, so they might say I’m crazy, they might say I’m a b*tch…but I really work. And I get it done.
“The key to success I feel is you can’t just be a pretty face because they’ll go find another pretty face. You have to know what’s going on now. I keep up with my budget, what’s being spent on my studio time. I know how much producers are charging for tracks. I know how much my videos cost me, my website. I know everything. I know my content that’s going on, I approve everything. I do everything with my music and my other companies.”
I like K.Michelle but I hope her attitude gets better leave that foolishness on LHHATL she has a record deal now and a lot more to lose. Now it’s time to build and protect your brand.
Agreed.
So true.
K. Michelle is very talented. I hope everything works for her.
She didn’t sound ratchet here…growth?
LOL!
She needs to now be mindful of everything she says & does. It seems like she’s getting that now. These labels are all about an image.
Rooting for her.
Love her or hate her, her music is pretty good.
I love her voice!
She makes good music and has a great voice. She has the potential to be what Keyshia Cole couldn’t.
I like her voice. Hope all goes well for her.
