Insider Says Kanye’s New Album Will Feature Lots of ‘Screaming’

Kanye West is all set to drop another studio album this year, and with a baby on the way with current girlfriend Kim Kardashian, one would think he would have lots of inspiration for his new music. Kanye recently unveiled his new music in New York to industry heads, and according to those in attendance, this new album will be a little on the dark side. While those that previewed the album said it is indeed “dope,” one insider tells Rolling Stone that Kanye is doing a lot of screaming on the tracks:

In late April, West visited Def Jam’s New York offices – pregnant girlfriend Kim Kardashian reportedly in tow – to preview the disc. Sources familiar with the project say it’s even darker and more twisted than 2010’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, with one song that drew comparisons to Nine Inch Nails.

The track list for the album is still being finalized, but the all-star crew of artists who have joined West in the studio is a who’s who of music in 2013, ranging from Daft Punk and Skrillex to underage Chicago MC Chief Keef and members of Odd Future. “It was very raw,” Daft Punk’s Thomas Bangalter says of one recent session with West. “He was rapping – kind of screaming primally.”

This won’t be the first time Kanye has intertwined screaming with his music. The rapper became the target of criticism when he proceeded to scream for about a full minute before wrapping up one his recent performances, and confused a lot of his fans in the process.

Check out a quick look at a clip of Kanye’s performance at the 2013 Met Ball last night. In the clip, he’s screaming the lyrics to his new song “I Am a God.” So we’re guessing there’s some truth to the report.
